OK, planning on an evening hunt. Looks to be about an inch out there. With a high of 38, it'll start melting soon. At least the sun wont be out.

It'll be quiet in the woods for sure, and I'll have to be careful because there's a good chance they'll come from behind me in that new stand.

I'm gonna go vote and puts around the lodge some. Hope to head out by 1 or 2. Sounds like the old man is going to hunt tonight, but is going to sit in a different spot for a change of view. Today is also the last day that my brother is hunting.

My wife gets home today too :tu: She has the loaner car while ours is getting fixed. Damn cars... It'll be fun cruising around in a '13 Outback for the rest of the week.

This no doubt has been a season of seasons. I've spent a ton more time on stand this year, but I've been seeing so many deer! Here's the numbers from my Journal comparing the last few years...

There's still plenty of season to go too. This also excludes my hunting in WI since it has thus far been only rife hunting. If I sit out with the bow at all this year, I'll be adding those hunts in.

your stats are amazing! Yet kind of sad. Getting a Buck is like Musky fishing. It you want one on your wall, get out there and work for one, because it will take you a long time.

I caught a 47 inch musky at Cass Lake, MN this summer...first beast and I am 44 years old.

My son hunted last year for 45 minutes and got a lil buck and the first 30 minutes of fishing in Minnesota ever and he caught a musky.

Me, I am not so lucky!

Interesting data. More deer and more morning hunts. Do you collect the times you saw the deer or recall that you saw more deer in the am?

I average 45-50 sits a year for the past 7 seasons.

    Roughy 315 sits.

    Without shooting a buck.

    Bring it on baby!

I do collect times, just haven't built any formulas with them yet. I most likely will this off season.

Also, bagging the hunt tonight. My wife just got home and is sick. Gonna hang out with her a bit and warm up some soup.

I'll get out in the AM for a hunt. See if I can find the new stand in the dark :busted:

I talk about that very same thing with my brother in the summer, but from the musky fishing similar to hunting point of view. First time I ever went musky fishing was from shore and caught a small 30 incher. I've been dozens of times since and have yet to hook up. I think its the closest thing to hunting in the fishing world as far as # of trips/success ratio. You may go sit 10 times and not see anything same as you may go fishing 10 times and not get a whiff.

What program did you use to create your speadsheet? I'm assuming Excel?

I am seriously contemplating on starting a deer journal.

ive got a log book for all my fishing i do. location, time, weather, bait used ect ect all get logged. makes it easier to find the best spots year after year. doin the same for hunting this year as well, even though ive only been out twice (haul out sucks!!!)

the more data you log, the more you have to go on the next season. best thing in the world for fishing, i can look back and see what worked best for the location and weather im fishing in. i even go as far as to print off google maps of the smaller inland lakes and ponds i fish at and mark were the bigger girls are, and they seem to return to the same beds each year.

anyway, good luck Fitz!!! hopefully you connect with Blade soon!

Yeah but personally I'd rather be casting around and checking out girls sunning on docks then sitting on stand in 30 degree weather most times haha. I love huntin don't get me wrong, but its second to fishing for so many reasons in my book.

Yeah, I use excel. If you want to start email me and I'll send you a copy. You can always add to it or take away from it.

Haha its tough for me. I tournament fish with my father a lot and that's a ton of fun. I really enjoy catching big bass and what not but the rush from just a doe at 15 yards while on the ground is something else. I think hunting will win when I can get a monster that close or even a small one. But I have been fishing a lot longer than I have been hunting. Sorry to hijack your thread Fitz. I need to hear more about blade! I check in about 3 times a day to see whats happening.

Ok, I'm in my new set 1 hr before shooting light. I was concerned how quickly I'd be able to walk into it, since it was only my second time walking in and first time in the dark. I actually walked right up to it, but about 3/4 of the way in, I heard a deer take one bound and walk N. hoping it wasn't one of the boys. I couldn't smell anything and it was less than 20 when it got up.

It's drizzling out right now. The woods are quiet. Lost most of the snow from yesterday. Looks like its gonna warm up the next few days. I just hope I don't get sick like Sara.

I'm gonna check my cams on my way out. One is about 5 yards from the base of this tree, the other is between my dads ladder and my other stand up here. His camera is just N if his stand. If they're moving through here, there's a good chance we got them on camera.
