So, nothing much from last night. Had two different deer com in before dark. One from the N and one from the SW. The one N was a ways off and blowing. The stopped for 15 min. That's when the one from the SW started to come in. One more blow from the N deer stopped the other, who then hung up a bit and changes course 90*. Slower, but all in all a good day.
Said goodbye to our other friend last night, so today will be an all day sit. We are back south where we sat for opener and I shot my doe. I haven't sat in this tree since then. It's a nice change of scenery.
No, phone changed but with Fall back, we needed to be up and hour earlier. Looked at the microwave and it said 6 not 5. Then I remembered DST. I would have been golden if my phone didn't automatically change
Here's today's view. I'll probably be a little quiet today to save battery life. I'll update good stuff though!
Mere seconds after rattling, a hot doe and little 8 came smokin across the clearcut. Tried stopping him in front of Nick's stand while he was reaching for his bow, but he wasn't having it. I thought for sure when I heard them that some big boy was on his way to kick some butt! Exciting stff though.
1/2 hr ago a respectable 8 crossed the cut toward nick. He was looking the other way, so I grabbed my bow. Once he looked over to me he knew something was happening. Had a good visual, so I pointed in the bucks direction and indicated buck (fingers as half rack). When I glanced back, about 20 degrees, he was gone. He was too far in the middle for him to give the slip in that short of time, so my guess is that he's bedded. I'd guess 35 yards from nick, but with a pine between them blocking the view.
Well, he did bed down, but about 30-40 yarrds from where I thought. At dusk he got up and milled around a bit all behind Nick and out of my site. he made his way off and we snuck out. Nick leaves tomorrow afternoon, but we'll head back in the morning.
Totally LOVED reading this.... I can't wait to get out there next year and do some hunting!! Go get some!
Ok, last minute change if plans. Dad has to work this am, so I'm sitting in his ladder stand and nick is in my stand. I think our odds of deer were equal here or to the south where we were yesterday, but here we are more likely to see one of the big boys. Plus. The neighbor to the north shot right near dark last night, so I want to see if I can hear them out looking for anything today.
