Hey Fitz sorry to read about the miss man. Stay positive, you'll get another shot and make it count next time. Enjoy reading your thread. I'm going to hopefully get up and hunt in MN next year with my GF's dad.

Did you get a wolf tag? I was reading about them and understand they are tough to get in most areas (I think). That's one hunt I would LOVE to go on, have you ever shot one and how big are they on average?

I think I read today that this thread was someone's "Crack" and I have to agree, no hunting show on tv is as great as reading this. I litterally, shake while reading this just like a big buck was under me!

    Fitz, you are a King!

Keep it up and here is to hoping Blade is the one chasing!

Glad you are not on the other side of the lake today!

Spike buck has been farting around for the last 10 min. Got within 14 yds.

    OK, my phone died...

It was pretty quiet until 17:35 when a doe made her way in from the west. She made the weirdest noise ever. Kind of a grunt. Sounded like a single metalic grouse drum, or the chirp of a 300# red squirrel. She did this about 12 times over a couple min. I wasn't sure what was coming. then she showed up and bleated normally a few times.

She hung around until dark, when two deer came chasing from the SW. Couldn't see them at all.

I'm supper bummed about the missed shot.... but really, this was by far the best day on stand I've ever had, MN or WI. At least 12 different deer. 4 bucks, one is the biggest I've seen while hunting. I just never stopped! What a blessed sit :tu:

I'm going to sit tomorrow AM there again, but I have stuff to do and a friend is showing up tomorrow, so no evening hunt. I may slip out Fri AM too. He can sleep in, and I can get my fix for the day!

I'm pooped. Emotional day for sure...

    Damn.

Heck Yeah! Glad you didn't let it get to ya. You've done everything right or you wouldn't have had the opportunity.

The way I see it, you just started your story with Whistler, it's time for the final chapter on Blade. Probably would have stung a hell of a lot more had it been Blade, so all things even, the saga continues. Whistler just tried to change it to a choose your own adventure.

Was this the first time you've ever sat this ridge?

Actually, come to think of it. My first sit bowhunting ever was about 60 yards from there. Hit and wounded a doe... high... She lived for a few weeks anyway, but I doubt she made it through the winter. Here wound was NASTY! I'll see if I can track down the trail cam pic.

I put in the lottery, but didn't get drawn. This is the first year for the hunt since they were put on the endanger species list back in the day. Adult female gray wolves in northern Minnesota weigh between 50 and 85 pounds, and adult males between 70 and 110 pounds. They can get bigger though.

Once you get one of these bucks down (Whistler or Blade) it will make for a great read. Good luck tomorrow.
