I gotta say, she had me fooled. She came in steady without a care in the world. I thought it was one of the boys. After I ID'd her and hung my bow up, I started shaking pretty good :tu:

No morning hunt tomorrow, but sounds like my dad might be siting in his ladder that's close to where I sat tonight. I'd crap if we got a double

OK, I was just about to get ready, and I got a text from my dad that he was going to be able to get out of work early and be home by 3. I told him I'd be waiting for him (he lives nextdoor). So we'll both slip up by our neighbor's property for a sit tonight. The wind is going to be perfect for this spot through Fri.

Our stands will be fairly close to eachother, so we can catch them no matter which side of the ridge they approach from.

I'm planning on sitting all day for Halloween :tu: Though, with a morning low in the low teens, it could be a rough sit.

I need to stall a bit longer, then I can go jump in the shower...

I have two buddies coming up this weekend. One that's doesn't hunt, and my buddy Nick (augustice) is coming back up. My other friend is going to just be relaxing, and knows we'll be out hunting much of the weekend.

Rifle season opens on Saturday too. But both Nick & I will have bows in hand. My bother & dad will be out with rifles. Should be a good weekend... Hoping I have a BBD before then :busted:

So you're able to bow hunt through rifle season? Didn't realize that, I was worried you'd have to sit it out wondering the what it's you didn't connect first.

no rifle hunting in IL, and bowhunters cannot hunt with a bow for those 7 days. They can bowhunt during muzzelload season however.

Ok, we walked to driveway to the neighbor's place and kicked up 2 does.

Dad pushed one more by my stand as he was walking in to his.

Here's where we are. I'm the blue dot.

Last night I took my canoe to their dock, which after today I believe is a far better way than walking in the whole way. You can see the dock if you look at the photo I posted with the dots.

This is getting interesting, so Blade(and now they) have moved to private land? Does your neighbor hunt and know about them?

Good luck to both of you, a double would be cool indeed. Would make an awesome ending in light of all the recent findings.

The neighbor doesn't live here. Just a vacation property. About 13 acres. They are in no way confined to that small of an area. There's like 600 acres of state & fed lands surrounding. In fact I'm not on private land. I think my dad just barely is.

Occasionally. I did last night wary in the sit. Yesterday AM in the other stand too. Only ever rattled in one buck, but it was enough to make me keep trying.

I heard a doe or fawn bleat about 15 min ago off to my SW. Dad has been grunting & bleating every so often.

    Dad just smoked a doe!!

She ran right towards my stand and piled up about 35 yards from me. Her fawn is walking around right now.

We'll let her lie for now. Get her after dark.
