Had a pileated woodpecker fly over my shoulder. Damn near spilled my tea!

Did a little grunting and rattling off & on. Nothing.

I think I'll get down and sneak out. Head back to the lodge to warm up and have lunch. Then gameplan where I want to setup this evening.

 

have you seen any chasing? they are really heating up here in Iowa. Seems too early for a doe in heat call but it worked for me this weekend. Good luck!

 

Bumped a deer on the way out, Bedded to the NE of the stand. Could have been the same buck? Who knows. Nice having snow for tracks. They've been active for sure.

Haven't seen any chasing yet, but it's gotta be coming soon. I did throw out one series of bleats this AM too.

Ok, I'm out again. I'm up on our neighbor's property near where we got those latest pics. I'm surrounded by rubs.

Like the new spot, but only have a few shooting lanes. I'll need to come back on a rainy/windy day with a pole saw.

Broken record I know, but it feels good here!

I really like the looks of a nearby pine, but it looks like its dying. Too bad so sad.

Fitz this thread is better then any hunting show on tv. We just had a baby over the summer. That with work being crazy I have only been out 2 times. Thanks for taking some of the edge off. Good luck.

 

I'm stuck in the tree with a doe beneath me. She came in at last shooting light. Stopped right in my lane. Good thing I haven't been green lighted by my dad to shoot him a doe

 

Pretty soon theres going to be some bucks chasing her.

 

Whistler shows a lot of similarities to blade! I would be thrilled two have two bucks of that caliber in the woods I hunt!
