Yes! So close now. I spend all year counting the days, and now its like "holy crap, I get to hunt Saturday". I love hunting for many reasons, but I just can't wait to be still in the silence of the woods.... ahhhhhhhh.

Not sure exactly. Near the top of my 5th LW stick. Probably 23' give or take. I'll range the ground this weekend :tu:

Finished up some of my last minute prep work tonight. Washed all my hunting gear, and worked on giving these a fresh edge for the up coming weekend :tu:

Plans are coming together for this opening weekend. My buddy (augustice) will get there late on friday night, and we'll be hunting together all weekend. My dad had a buddy coming up as well. First time I've ever had 3 other guys in camp for opening weekend, should be a blast!

Mines actually a Smiths. It works pretty well. I've even sharpened my Rage blades with it.

My kit is like this one:

I've brought some knives back from the dead with it :tu:

My bad, looks a lot like the Lansky with the guide rods. I may need to look into this. I am miserable at sharpening.

On the eve of opener I thought I'd look through some of my old stats from previous years. Always interesting for me to see these kind of breakdowns.

It's nice having 3 years of stats to go back to :tu:

If you haven't been using a journal, I highly recommend it.

Is there a particular journal app you use on your phone? Simple XLS spreadsheets?

I have an exel workbook I use. There are a couple neat apps out there, but I've been doing my journal too long, I don't want to backlog all that data. Plus I can customize the journal all I want :tu:

I also got a FedEx box from GameHide this morning  It's all in the wash as we speak.

Well, the forecast held out. Looks like a S wind all day tomorrow. Morning & evening hunts are now planned for my new area...

Augustice will be getting here about 11PM tonight. Our 4 AM wake-up will come quick! His stand will be at the end of the yellow line. I'll be at the red dot.

I have a good feeling at our chances for dropping a doe tomorrow.

The wind shifts for Sunday and Monday and we'll be after Blade on the other side of the lake:tu:

I hope to do some updating from the stand. Gotta work all the kinks out opening day.

Showered, had breakfast, and have begun to throw every thing together. A little face paint and B-tech spray down and we'll be set. We'll take the golf cart around the back road, to get us within 700 yards of the stand.

Time to sneak in, set up our Lone Wolves, and wait for shooting light :tu:

    GAME ON!

Good luck Fitz! I'm currently sitting at about 7000', enjoying some silence, total darkness, and listening for bugling bulls. Smoke from wildfires is bad up here, dangerous. Got to be careful. Double up on deer and elk today, shall we?

    Sounds good Dave!

Have had a moose crashing around in the swamp to my S since just before shooting light.

It's gonna be a good day!
