Seems to be holding up fine. Now that this busy weekend is over, I'll just run an extension cord with the charger out to the beach. Then I can just clip it on when I get back. If I get real fancy, I could add a little on board charger with a plug receptacle.

20-25 min each way. My old motor chewed through batteries like nobody's business.

Here's what the note I'm leaving says:

Just wanted to let you know that there will be at least two other hunters along this creek over the rifle season. If you'd like a hand with any tracking, let me know. Also, if you get a buck, there's a good chance I have photos of him. Good luck!

    Name & non-BH.com email

It's much nicer than the original 'Go the *#@* away' note I wanted to write :busted:

Well, it is public land. It is very possible that someone read about your excursions online. I think it's more likely someone just wants to hunt and happens to live way over/up there. Good luck finding out who. Hopefully they are pleasant and only hunt rifle season.

It's not your brothers stand is it? Jk

Would most access be boat only?

Access would be boat only for this spot. I'm sure it's a neighbor and doubt they're on here. I'm pretty hightech for the average Ely folk :tu:

Alright, I'm on my merry little way. 1st a pit stop to pin up my note, then off to creep in on Blade's bedding area. I'm gonna move in another 60-100 yards and get up on top of the ridge.

Today is the 22nd, which is the latest I've ever had him on camera in the past. It's been since the 1st since I've gotten him this year.

    Tick-tock....

Forecast for rain over the next few days as the cold front makes its way through. I may venture out in it depending on how things go.

    Sunny now though.

Just kill blade tonight so you don't have to worry about the rain. :)

    Good luck man.

Well here's the story. Left the note. Stand looks to be an older gorilla and a single LW stick. Half way back to the canoe I recalled my brother accusing me of having one if his sticks last year.

After a flurry of confusing texts, it's discovered that its his old stand he left up 2 years ago. It's been hidden by leaves and well place trees from my previous vantage points.

What a relief! Now I can pull the stand one of these days and get him his stuff back.

Now, I love this new spot I'm at! The top of the ridge opens up with large pines, aspen and maples.

Here's the aspen I found with a little balsm tucked into it.

    So I unpacked my stand.

Now, here's the view west down the ridge to my 12 o'clock.

And my 10 back toward the access trail and my canoe.

And east at my 7 back to his bedding area...

Lot of well placed small pines that will allow for drawing. I'm pumped about this set. Might sit in the rain tomorrow.

Here's my location, with his bedding area between me and the lake. It includes the north part of the bay as well.

I'd guess 20 to the platform. Top of 4 sticks. I left my 5th on the ground. Any higher and I'd start to loose cover from the pine.
