Came across another fresh rub in the corner of the lake where I come in. I may have to sit there soon. Someone is hanging around there.

 

I'm gonna rattle around 4. Then keep quiet, unless I see or hear something.

Starting to rain again. If it gets much harder, I may pull the plug early. Radar looks spotty though.

 

I think something is poking around the E edge again. Hard to hear exactly with the light rain.

I just may be sticking it out 'til dark yet...

Just curious, when does the rut start up there? Has to be getting pretty close. Do you have doe bedding areas pegged to try to hunt him then? Doesn't sound like you have much competition, wolves aside, so hopefully you can intercept him shortly. He'd be a freak of a Halloween buck!

 

The rut itself often falls during the rifle season here, which kinda sticks, but what are you going to do. First couple weeks of Nov are pretty solid.

There's a doe bedding area right between the beaverdams and his bedding area. The best doe bedding area is the ridge right up behind the lodge. I'll spend some time there and near the swamp I shot my doe at to the South. I'm gonna go pretty hard at him over the next week or so, cause when the rut hits, all bets are off.

I should note, the latest in the season that I have ever gotten him on camera is Oct 22nd.

 

I'm going to swap memory cards this noon, and then gameplan for a sit this evening. Mostlikely I'll set up on the furthest beaverdam for tonight & tomorrow, then the wind is supossed to become E which is rare, but awesome to put the pressure on his bedding area.

I might move one of the cameras to where I saw those rubs and scrape the lasst couple hunts.
