Alright, continued S winds are plaguing me. Tonights side show is going to be an exploratory scout/sit over or near a year old cut. I've walked the cut a couple times this past winter, once in order to get a track to outline it. So, I'll be coming from the lake to the north, and setting up on the south edge of the cut (one of the red dots ideally). If I don't like what I see, I'll back out and head W to the yellow dot. It's at the end of a large ridge as it tapers down to a flat. Here's a view, including the forementioned outline.

There's some more big woods for you BC :tu:

Roughly 1 1/4 mi. He could feed there, I'm not sure. I haven't hunted this fresh of a cut before. I want to check it out.

I have pics of him last year about 800 yds from where I'll be.

Unhunted deer.... I like it! Knowing blade could walk by, what is your size minimum on another buck?

Somewhere between 'sweet!' and full on sphincter contraction.

I love Blade, but I just might get me some strange :tu:

Back on dry land. I'll update once I'm up, unless something good happens.

Half way in. One big scrape and one rub. Love the swamps!

Good luck this evening. Have you gotten any pics of Blade recently?

Is that water the water to the NNW of your blue lined area where it says cut walk?

Yeah, I had to cross a beaverdam on the E side of that pond.

I actually wouldn't mind hunting right around there either. Good sign.

Well, I'm up a tree. Not too happy with it, but it'll do for short notice. I like the cover it affords me, but I missed judged how high I'd get, and its a bit too thick, limiting my shot opportunities. Most likely a non-issue for tonight.

It's salvageable if I brought a pole saw.

Anyways, here's the view to my left...

    And in front...

The new growth in the cut is about 3' high, and looks to be heavily browsed. There were some nice trails on the way in, so it's getting hit for sure.

So here's where I ended up. Hard to tell since it doesn't show this part of the cut, but if you look to the south, you can see the first areas the cut on the way here.

I have never hunted a cut like that, excited to hear what you see.
