Kill him tonight, put some scent out to try to get him moving a few mins earlier? Grunt a little?

    OK, here's the plan....

It's been super calm all day, which I don't like. I'd rather have a steady wind to keep my scent in one direction. However :tu: there is a fire up in Canada, and the lack of wind has a haze of smoke holding over the area. If there's gonna be no wind, I might as well have some smoke as a cover scent.

I like that it'll be dead quiet, it just means that I'm going to need to take my time being a :ninja: on my way in and setting up. That's good too, cause it's 70* out. If I was in a hurry, I'd be sweating like crazy.

Now, I'm gonna swing south on my route to the area (light blues line). The deer that we jumped yesterday was at the red dot. The shaded red areas are where I think he's bedding, but mainly the one to the East. The yellow dots are trail cam spots. The two north ones are current, and the south is where that video was taken. The shaded yellow is where I'm going to setup tonight. The other blue line is the access trail that Blade was walking down, from the lake.

It'll take me quite a while to get there and set up, but I gotta say... I'm feeling good about tonight!

I'm gonna throw my grunt call in my pack. Might do some very light grunting near sunset to try and entice him to show early.

    Time to get ready!

Just set now... Trolling motor crapped out so I paddled the whole way. 1st tree I started setting up in, I decided didn't have enough back cover, so I moved 8 yards over. Glad I did.

Here's a shot of the calm lake.

Here's a shot from the stand down the access trail back toward the lake.

And the trail continues to my side.

And in front of me a second trail that intersects the access trail.

It depends on the set. Some times I can get set up in about 15 minutes with 3 sticks. Other times, like today, it's closer to 45 minutes. I was really trying to be as quiet as I could. Today's stand was near the top of 5 sticks.

Most of the time I'm going to the opposite side of the lake, that's about 1 3/4 miles. If I head to the outlet, it's about 1 mile.

It was a quiet night. The smoke was blowing in & out. Got pretty thick at dusk. Had to bit my tougne at one point to keep from coughing. Had a bunch of grouse roosting around me all night. A few squirrels messing around in the leaves.

No deer, but I know I'm on him!

Stick with it Fitz! I know you're gonna nail Blade!

Oh, I don't blame you for using the trolling motor. That's a nice little paddle just to go hunting.

The mount is an Insane Archery mount. The iPhone case is an xshot, it's nice because you can easily take it off without have to unscrew it.
