It seems that they aren't moving with the fullmoon. I didn't see anything but a porcupine tonight.

The video was to dark to make anything out, even after messing with the brightness. Huge bummer! One of these days I'll get one on film for you all. They just move so much faster than deer through the woods. I knew it was a wolf once it crossed the dam and got on the forest floor. They sound so much different that deer do, always trotting like a dog.

I'm hoping that he crossed in front of my camera on the other side of the dam before heading my way. I'll find out when I swap cards this weekend.

I love the thread. Went back and read the one from last year as well. Needless to say, my butt has been glued to my office chair for most of the day reading all this. Oh well, work can wait untill monday, after all our season starts tomorrow and this was the perfect primer. You can bet I'll be following this thread through the season.

OK, with the in-laws coming up today, I decided I'd sneak in a morning hunt before a weekend of grouse hunting with my FIL & BIL. I'm gonna head back across to the south side of the beaverdams. This time I'm gonna set-up on the far West dam in a tree I sat a few times last year. We have a very slight E winds today, that should carry my scent over the pond. I'm thinking that with the water levels in the creek up this year, the deer are crossing here more. I guess we'll see, after today, I'm gonna give this area a rest for a bit.

    Off to finish getting ready:tu:

Temp is right around 34* this morning. Looks like we're going to get into the mid 70s this afternoon. Pretty warm for this time of year.

On my way now. What a morning! Calm as could be and the lake is like glass. Moon is bright and is on it's way down.

My trolling motor is still acting weird. It's fine for a few minutes, then slows and acts out of balance. Then it'll be fine again. WTF.

    Well that wasn't smooth...

Haven't walked that trail in 11 months. A couple downed trees in the dark threw me a bit. Took a lot longer to get set up than I'd hoped. Oh we'll.

10 min until shooting light. Let's see how it goes!

So far I've heard wolves, loons, geese, ducks, eagles, kingfishers, ravens, grouse, chickadees, and a beaver.

Man I love hearing the woods wake up!!

Sounds like he hung up 70 yard or so back in the timber. Guess he's not that curious.

Well, I think I'm gonna break down this set and pack it in. After I get back to the canoe, I'll swing around and swap cards on my camera.
