Well, snowmobile just went by. Better now than an hour from now I guess...

Been reading your post all season. Hope you can put one down tonight.

 

Said snowmobiler proceeded to get stuck 150 yds down trail. I just sprinted out to help him, just to get him out of here. Now I'm sweating like a mad man...

 

Now the neighbor just rode up to chainsaw a fallen tree across the trail!

It will be a miracle if anything is 1600 yards from here.

 

That sucks....but I must admit, I laughed!

 

Fitz no offence but it sounds like if you didn't have bad luck you wouldn't have any luck! I hope it gets better!

 

AHHHHHH.....

OK, I feel better now. There's more to the story....

4:00 a cross country skier skis into the bay I'm near and sits on a rock 75 yds from me. Just sat there for 25 minutes, then skied away.... WTF?

What's also funny is that I didn't have much time before the hunt to post my plan & such because 1/2 hr before we were scheduled to leave, the gusts in cabin #8 came down to let me know the bathtub in the cabin wasn't draining. The P ttrap was froze from when we were gone in Mexico and had turned the cabin's thermostat down.... so, we got out 45 minutes after we had planned...

This was a cluster ___ from the get go!

A hunt like this and I'm glad to be done until next Sept.

I'll post up some of my final season stats later tonight..

 

I will say I have really enjoyed following this thread, I have one more day to hunt tomorrow. So I'm going to give it a one last go effort...again great thread, makes me really want to take a trip up that way, that's some beautiful country.

 

Alright, here's a statistical break down of my 2011 Season:
29 hunts
127 hrs and 55 min on stand
a total of 11 deer seen
1 deer harvested
2 bucks seen
6 does
1 fawn
2 unidentified
2 morning hunts
24 evening hunts
3 all day hunts
23 hunts that I didn't see a single deer

I averaged 4 hrs 24 minutes per sit
Averaged 1 deer seen every 11 hrs & 37 min


All in all, it was a great year for wildlife encounters, starting with the moose opening weekend, the beavers, otters, mink, pine martens, wolves, fox, eagles, loons, kestrels and numerous other birds.

I cherish my time in the woods, and I hope you all found some entertainment out of my antics.

Now it's time to put out my carcasses from WI and see if I can get some wolves on camera. Take Care, everyone, and Happy New Year!!!
