Some of you may have met my good buddy Johnny "Greg Miller" Herrmann last winter at some of the sport shows. Johnny came up yesterday with his daughter Danielle and her boyfriend Jake for a few days of fishing. I was able to sneek away for a few hours and do a little lake trout fishing with them on a nearby lake. Johnny was the first to hook up with one.....but it wasn't worth taking a picture of. :d After a little more searching for some active fish, we finally found a few shallow and Danielle was able to hook up with a nice 27" laker. Jake was next to land one. About 24". Of course, as luck would have it, Danielle was able to catch another fine looking 27" trout. At this point I'm starting to think that I really suck at the whole Lake Trout fishing thing. All I was able to land was a giant 12" trout. But, at least it was bigger than Johnny's!
Danielle looks like the catch of the day to me  Ive never been Lake Trout fishing, but i have seen pictures of some of the big ones caught (70+ pounds) and they look so awkward looks like fun!
Dan,when are you clearing a space for me to live up there? If you have great trout streams I will be on my way!
Thanks for the comments guys. Johnny just left this morning and I didn't get a chance to fish with him anymore than on Sunday...too much going on here. Sorry Scot, no trout streams around here, only Lake Trout. Quite a ways east of us there is some phenomenal brookie fishing and I wish we had some in this area.
Wow, nice looking Lake Trout there!! That's one thing I've never caught yet. While fishing In Canada 20 years ago on a fishing trip that my dad and my brother and I went on we tried the Lake Trout fishing one afternoon. Had a nice fish on, haven't a clue If It was a Laker or not but none the less It was fun and something completely new for me In fishing. Great pics!!
Dan is the man!!! What an awesome area he has. Never enough time to explore it all. Ah someday. Nice to get outfished by the young uns though.
