Been out a few times this year in my boat. Been catching various size bass regularly. No elecronics on my 2020 bass tracker classic xl but I did upgrade from a 45lb thrust 12v to to an 80lb 24v thrust trolling motor. It whips that tin boat around like mad. Really makes a difference on the windy days.

I was going to drag a rapala tonight behind the pontoon, it is too damn hot if the wind isn't blowing you have to go faster. I was sitting still driving the pontoon and sweating like crazy. My wife embraces the heat laughs at me sweating.

Thinking about doing a fishing trip on the full moon in August. Anyone fish St. Clair during August. Interested in smallmouth and walleye mainly.

Would love to see a bare-bones bass tournament. No electronics of any kind, no trolling motor but a paddle is OK, one small tackle box with no more than 10 compartments, rod with a Zebco 33.

Du Pont sinker timed at about 6 seconds. I sold my bass boat about 25 years ago. The bare boat now has doubled what I paid for mine in 1983. I would have to own an oil well to afford a boat now. Friend want to get a plain jon boat. Chucked the idea when he found the motor cost more than the boat!

    Trolling, it’s mindless and successful.

Depends on the kind and technique, drifting is a form of trolling requires boat control.

It definitely does. For trolling Walleye I just bottom bouncers and just stay in the depth where I’m getting fish, I drift fish for cats. I don’t discriminate I like all types of fishing.

Just got back from Hilton Head, we caught a pile of shark from the beach. Kids had a blast trying to reel them in. I had my 4 nephews along for the trip, the one was punching the reel trying to turn it, great memories! Got some big bull sharks off shore too with some eater fish.

Wife and kids went to the east coast to visit family and I wasn’t able to go due to work. So I headed up to our place on Green Bay and was able to fish every day after work this week and put a beating on the smallmouths. No giants but tons of those 3.5-4.5lb fish. It took me a couple days to find the bigger schools but once I found them it was one after another. IMG_1157.jpeg IMG_1164.jpeg IMG_1167.jpeg

Drifting with a purpose? I read of one bass angler who set a pole of some sort in the seat mount and made a sail to save battery power.

I shared this in the team thread but forgot to put it here. 41” Upper Peninsula Northern on a super spook jr. It was the last fish of the (slow) week. We fished 09/06-09/11. Normally we go in early June and do 100-200 fish in the week. My brother in law and I put 12 hour plus days all week and only caught 50 fish, but the last one made it. Topped my PB by 3”. The spook didn’t survive. Another camper caught a pic of us at sunset trying to catch our fourth fish of that day lol

After seeing the many photos of a variety of fish, I focus on slickbilly-d and his northern pike. I recall in the distant past of pike and musky anglers using a plug called a Suick plug. Anyone familiar with it? Seems this lure was from the northern states as Minnesota and Wisconsin, maybe Canada.

They’re out of Antigo, WI. It’d be a sad day if got one hung up or lost it, because they’re about $30 a piece.
