nope, didnt go to the dam... this cold front was a turn off, add in the low water below the dams, it wouldnt be worth the gas and lost sleep ..
I was in the hardware store in town a young man was in the store buying some lures and bait. I asked him where he was going fishing he said Pine lake. I told him I know a guy on Cedar lake and I was told the walleyes are hitting on crank baits in shallow water. Young man went and bought a couple more crank baits and headed out. The owner of the hardware store thanked me for selling a few more rapalas but said you are an a-hole for giving a kid BS information because you don't want more people fishing in front of your house.
Sota, I see things on forums where people are "giving away a fishing spot." Hmm. I have a topo map of the state plus a detailed rendering of the lakes, rivers, etc., in the state which is a laundry list of places to fish listed in the regulations. Regulations even list places to fish from the bank.
My wife catches more bass out of her kayak than the guys that come with their electronic bass boats. She won't bring me with when she goes. I just like messing with people, not like my wife who when she is fishing will scold adults for keeping small fish.
Couple weeks ago I mentioned my nephews boat sinking in the slip. Simply amazing that we got it running after being like this.
Decided to take advantage of the cold morning we had. 43 degrees at 6 am this morning. I figured the crappie would pull up shallow to feed this morning, and they did. All caught on 3ft deep jig under a weighted casting float. Looking like we will be having afish fry this weekend.
My son got a casting net for his birthday this weekend, he landed this nice bass while trying to catch bait fish. He then used the $200 he received in birthday money to buy a small kayak so he can start fishing small ponds and lakes, I could not be more proud of him for spending the money that way. So glad he had no interest in spending it on video games.
Picked up an electric fishing boat today, to is one of the remote control boats you hook a fishing line too, box says the boat can candle a 2-1/2 pound fish. My grandsons are going to have a ball with it, I am just there for the little kid giggles.
We finally had a day and a half off from baseball so I loaded up the boys and the boat and headed North. We had a blast and caught a good amount of them with a few right at sunset on Sunday night. Hard to beat it!
Yeah I have to redo rod storage I have hooks and 15 rods hanging but I brought all the saltwater rods home have another 6 to hang.
I bought the boat I have now way back in 2006. The first thing I did was replace the Motorguide trolling motor with a Minn Kota Maxxum 55# thrust motor. That means I have been battling wind on the lakes with a 55# thrust trolling motor for 19 years now. Yesterday the poor old thing started squalling constantly. It's been a warrior but it's so old and I have noticed that it's not that quiet any longer. I spook some fish just trolling. Recently though, it started making a "squalling" noise once in a while. I've lubed it the best I could, but yesterday it started squalling constantly so I decided it's finally time to upgrade trolling motors. I have Garmin chart plotters on my boat and ever since I've gotten them I've wanted a Garmin Force trolling motor but the price tag is just out of this world. Plus, like I told a friend of mine, putting a Garmin Force trolling motor on a 2006 Bass Tracker 175TX would be kind of like putting a chandelier in an outhouse. I was about to order another relatively inexpensive trolling motor, but my wife talked me out of it. She actually said "Why not get what you've always wanted? You won't be happy with that one so just order the Force." So, I guess I'm about to install a chandelier in my outhouse. I ordered a Garmin Force Pro from BPS. My military discount gave me $400 off. Battery space is limited in this model boat so I searched and found a 36 volt / 100 amp hour lithium battery. They had a Father's Day sale so I ordered it and got it for $997 which was 40% off. It's still a lot of money, but I can't wait to use the advanced features like track-back, spot-lock and contour follow for the first time in my life. Oh and I can't wait to see how fast 100 pounds of thrust will move my 17 foot bass boat. I do know that fighting the wind won't be a problem any more.
It is for me. Very few things make me "giddy" with excitement, but to have something coming that fulfills an almost 19 year old dream has me pretty "giddy".
I’m with your wife! You gotta go for it, it will be a game changer. This year I got 2 lithium “li time” battery’s and a new ultrex minnkota tm to replace my old 24v motor guide setup. Definitely made a huge difference, you’ll enjoy the upgrade
I ordered the 36 volt lithium from LiTime. They got good reviews and with the sale price I didn’t think I could do better anywhere. This is going to be a mega upgrade: 55 pounds of thrust in a noisy old trolling motor to 100 pounds of thrust in a brushless, whisper quiet one.
