So I bought the little ugly stik.. tired of ticks I went to the lake to rig my line and test the rod. I was very proud of my line rig went to a good open spot with a slip weight, eye bead and a eye hook with rubber minnow, on hook off a swivel. Yah ,yah I won't do fish talk ..lol
I Just wanted some weight to see what distance I'd get from a short stiff rod. That I know is basically a dock rod. Open bail and a huge amount of line just tumbled to the ground ! WTH!!!! what a tangled mess. Locked reel cut line wrapped up the mess and left. Thankfully ...it started raining as soon as I left. That smoothed the sting. You know all I can do isshake my head and laugh.

weather permitting, I hope to hit the dam/river very shortly, maybe next weekend (I hope) (white bass, walleye, smallmouth) ... picked up a new Shimano spin today at Bass Pro and enough line to redo the rigs I take .. and a few new nic nacs to try out .. and found out the public area out along the big puddle is open this year, it was closed by the port authority last year 'cause of construction ... that means >>>>> COHO's and Browns, maybe a few Steelheads ... got to pick up some uncooked shrimp for slip bobbers (crawlers works good also as does squid) (shore/bank fishing only no personal boats any longer in the port, must stay out of the walls ).. ....

Lo, it came with the line on it. Actually it wasn't over filled. I came home and did an internet search. Not feeling quite as dumb after that. VERY COMMON issue I found. It could be from the way they mechanically fill reel. Cheapness of line. That or the way the bail is working or not. Hubby is going to help me out on it.
That just may finally get him to find where he put my good pole and Gracia reel.

Hubby straighten it out and it casts way farther than I thought it would. Thereel handle has a catch in it but the more it used the fewer times it catches.

talked to a few guy who've been chasing coho on their boats, the fish have moved out now to deeper water 30-50 ft ... however the gale winds have shut down the fishing on the big puddle for now .. weather maybe iffy by next Fri ... I need to get to the dams ..

Went down to the slip this morning to find my nephews bass boat sunk in the slip on it side in 70 foot deep water. The tie off ropes were the only thing keeping it from sinking to the bottom. We had it back on the lake running by 5 pm. No idea what happened.

Had some good fishing fun over the weekend with my nephews and my daughter. It was non stop catching. I was whooped, between snags, baiting and unhooking fish. Managed a few keeper crappie for the fryer!

I did the thing, "Oops, forgot the drain plug!" Fortunately, I noticed it before it got over the gas tank.

went to the dam on Fri. .. was in the water wading by 4:30am ..... no water flowing out of the gates, just on the turbine side waay across from me, no wading there either .. heard some thing 5 yds behind me and it was 3 otters with their heads/necks straight up out of the water watching me, they hung around for an hour or so eating and playing .. never bothered me ... caught a decent rock bass, two small smallmouth, 2 small white bass and a 17 inch walleye/all released .... still a tad early for the main white bass run/water is still too cool .. ... water wasnt flowing much, stagnant close to the dam on the east side I was on and shallow, very few fish being caught by others there ... tried one more spot moving up an down the Tippy below the bridge, nothing else, I was home by noon ... maybe again this coming Fri. depending on weather ..

Headed back down to Dale Hollow Thursday for more smallie action. Short 3 day trip this time with my nephew, his son and his buddy.

I have renamed my nephew's boat the SS Minnow, and we'll be leaving her sitting on the trailer at home this time.
