I have been known to pop a top and take that medium diving perch rapala off and singing between sips, send in the clowns. I have actually stripped down to my underpants to retrieve a clown rapala husky jerk in a half hour fishing contest with my rival on the Mississippi near Monticello Mn. Yes I won with the biggest and most bass.

There's nothing at all wrong with how you choose to fish, or what you fish with. As long as it's legal and you're enjoying yourself, that's what counts.

Been raining all morning. Decided to try making a clown colored 1/8 jig at the suggestion of Sota.

    I'll try it pretty soon.

I see a smallmouth trip in my future. Never caught winter smallies.

Floating jig heads with sucker minnows in the Mississippi about 2 -3 miles down from the nuke plant discharge. on a good day you would catch a half dozen smallies but they were all slobs.

I just want to say I hate what ice fishing has become, stare at the depth finder, stare at the camera. I am putting bobbers on my ice rods this year using the old clip on depth finder to set my depth and relax and enjoy.

I am determined to spear a northern this winter, never have done it before but have all the gear, I do know that I will be putting the chain on my saw backwards and filling it with vegetable oil instead of using an ice saw. I will probably get impatient and jig with a spoon and minnow over the big hole, it is fun when you can watch the pike hit.

50’s and rain next week. That will melt all the ice that we never got. Booo!

On a positive note the ice has been bad the past 2 years and have noticed the average crappie size is bigger, who knows another winter with little pressure the crappies will get real nice.

Tied up several ice jigs the last few days, and I'd been dying to try them out. New moon, 58 degrees and cloudy skies with stained water.

Ran down to the family farm today and hit the big pond.

Ran a double bobber rig with a weighted float then a ice bobber 12 inch back, and then 30 inch leader for the jig tipped with a meal worm. New jigs worked well. Kept 9 big bluegill and sent the other 20 home with the Sil to stock his new pond with. Fish fry tonight for me and the wife!

I have no idea what any of that means haha. Run a small tungsten jig with wax worm and a vexilar when I’m fishing sunfish. No bobber ever.

You can’t be fishing that deep right? Double bobber thing I am clueless.

Fishing around the banks Jake. We hardly ever get safe ice. It's probably 2 or 3 foot deep.

Weighted bobber allows you to cast small ice jigs longer distances, and the ice bobber is the strike indicator.

I have a trip planned for the wife and I, kind of a bucket list. Headed to New England in July to fish tuna.

Ice is coming! Please lay down wind and let the freeze begin! I may make some deer chili and fish all day.

Watched a guy with his 2 kids try to get set up to spear, while the guy is opening a hole, their little canvas house was tumbling down the lake because of the wind. It looked like a lot of fun, no way I am going out in this crap weather.

Are you set up to spear? I think spearing is almost as much fun as sitting in a tree stand. I haven’t for years but sure enjoyed it when I did. Lot of work to cut the holes though.
