Waiting on ice now, my lake will probably not be ready before Christmas.

Last winter I joined an ice fishing club, 4 of us we go to my neighbors castle my job is to bring pizza. I show up after the heat is on and the holes are drilled 6:30 Friday nights. Crappies suspended in 28'. Kinda sucks in a way no bobber fishing they all just stare at depth finders.

Yeah, Iget that but also somewhat peaceful. And a lot of fun fighting a big walleye through the ice.

I like to have a beer or two when I fish and honestly not that motivated to fish hard. I use a bobber to move my jig to the depth of the fish. I have caught more fish that way than constantly holding the pole, like to watch the bobber go down.

The lake I am on we throw any walleyes back, low numbers. I go out for dinner at the Rock Tavern when I want to eat walleye.

Ah, gotcha. Love eating them. We have a pretty large slot and I don't keep anything over either, but usually enough for a good fry up.

You guys have any knowledge of epropulsion outboards?

I am thinking of a 12 foot jon boat and maybe a 6hp or 9hp engine. My trips would all be under 2 miles or less. Most like 1mile or under on a river.

Batteries. The little motor will not do well going upstream.

Lake is going to be a big tease sure there is ice but it is going to be above 32 for highs, I will get to stare at thin ice. Going to set the over and under right now. Between today and Christmas there will be 12 reported vehicles reported that have gone thru thin ice. Includes 4 wheelers and side by sides. Take the over.

Statewide. I always say early season if you are the only person on the lake you are an idiot.

I just hope we get good ice this year, it froze smooth this year but the bast 2 years we got too much snow and the ice flooded with slush on top, it makes sitting in a portable miserable.

All of my ice fishing gear is going to Red Lake tomorrow even the camera and my hummenbird, not me though, my son in law is coming over to pick it all up going with a friend. Good thing he is the father to my grandsons, he is a hell of a man too great guy, plus he took over payments on my daughter. Use what ever you want, that is why I bought it. He is thrifty and I got tired of watching him fight his gas auger, you need quality gear to be successful like a map card in you depth finder with GPS and an electric auger. In Minnesota forget the drill augers you need a strike master lithium.

People were just starting to walk on the lake to fish, and now we got a bunch of rain. Curse the sky.
