Def o-ring. I didn’t even know they sold em pre made. I buy bulk o rings online and use sharpie with no guts works like a charm putting em on a worm. @Justin that sucks about your boat, when you use stuff that happens. I had a big chunk taken out of my fiber glass from a dock tie off up by the trolling motor. It Ruined my week, I filled it in with 2 part epoxy and was a hard lesson learnt.
as we get closer to hunting season that means I'm that much closer to ice fishing, which is my favorite way to get out to chase some filets
I really want to get out tonight and tomorrow morning, but I'm afraid my wife may kill me if I do both. I will mull this over and decide by lunchtime what I'm going to do.
I have settled on morning only. My mother-in-law and her husband are performing (singing) at a local car show tonight, so we are going to bring the kids over to see them. And enjoy some hot rods and food while we're at it. Fishing will wait until the morning, I guess.
Well I did it. I got my license to fish for salmon. It's my first time fishing but my wife loves it and it's crazy expensive so I'm going to start becoming a fisherman( FML I never thought I would say that) any tips would be appreciated. I'm going with a buddy that loves arguing with me that fishing is better than bow hunting . We are stream fishing and he has the gear. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
If you are stream fishing for salmon while they are spawning, smoke the meat. It will cover the taste if the fish has started to rot.
Believe it or not I was an intense fisherman, it was not something to enjoy it was a mission to success that brought joy. I once threw a g Loomis rod with a Stella reel over a road and into a tree because I missed a trout that would have been number 5 my limit. I climbed and took the rod down re rigged and caught my limit. I am calm now I can relax I would rather watch other people fish and help.
I never fished for salmon but I’m pretty soild at catching steelhead on a fly rod. I would try swinging streamers if fly fishing or dead drifting a nymph under a float of some sorts (whatever is in that section of water) or a Wooly bugger pattern with a dropper fly, typically a midge or a smaller bead head nymph. Also egg patterns work well. If spinning tackle then I would use skein (fish eggs) under a float. Use the drag of the reel, don’t horse em in and enjoy the fight. They’ll tire out in 10 mins or so .
We just got a camper and have it on a seasonal site in NW Minnesota. Sort of looks like we’re on a golf course but as it’s the only available seasonal site in 200 miles we took it. We’re liking it just fine. As old farts it’s all we need. The campground is on a river and I’ve been bank fishing the past two trips. Last week I caught a small mouth about 3” long on a spoon about 2 inches long. Scrappy little thing. Just went out this afternoon again and caught three. These were 10 to 13 or 14 “. I’d post pics if I knew how. I’ve never caught smallmouth before so didn’t know how hard they fight. I think I’m gonna like this river fishing.
My dock is coming out in 2 weeks I have limited chances to fish but the fall turnover bite is aggressive. 16' wacky worms.
Finished my season up on Green Bay this weekend and got into a pretty good school of them yesterday. They sure are picky right now even if you know where they are schooled up. Towed the boat back home for the season today but will probably run it another time or two on the local mud puddle if we get weather too warm to hunt on the weekend. I’ve included a few pics of the better ones from the season below!
Caught a few more smallmouth on the river today. Plus a little snot rocket. None too big but all were fun.
Caught a couple walleyes yesterday and tw smallmouth today. Threw them all back again. I’ve never eaten smallmouth. Are they good eating?
