We'll guess it's time for me to join in on this thread. Just bought my fishing license for first time in years. Heading down to the river for a couple hours in the morning. Buddy wanted his kid to catch some fish. Not targeting anything special. Will most likely be perch and catfish. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
We ended up catching about 30 - 40 croaker. Not a fish I ever caught in the river before, seems to be explosion of them. Caught maybe 20 catfish ranging in size from 10" to 24". Caught 4 species of them, channel cat, mud cat, blue cats and some other species that I wasn't familiar with. It was really dark colored and looked just like the channel cats. Also caught 2 white perch. My daughters showed up for the last hour and they both caught some croaker and 1 white perch. It was fun getting out fishing again. Fished for about 4 hours and hit the high tide just about right. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Great day fishing with my dad, wife, and kids today. We were on my dad’s home lake for pike and walleye. We caught a total of 14 fish in three hour; 12 pike and 2 walleye. I caught my PB pike, my younger two boys caught their first pike and walleye today.
Didn’t get to go fishing today with everything going on. Headed to black bear lake in Crosby tomorrow - Tuesday might fish for some bass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Also… buddy got a brand new $40 anchor and rope for his “new” 1983 pontoon today. Hooked the carabiner onto it, threw it in, started tying it on, no anchor on the other end. Zero clue what happened but just threw $40 into the lake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pretty rare I do not have an open beverage on the pontoon, I don't drink when I am pulling a skier or tubes.
Took my boys (9 and almost 5) to my grandpa's farm ponds in NW Iowa on the 3rd. The ponds had a bad winter kill and all the big walleye and crappie died, but we fished vertical jigging I'd guess you'd call it from the dock with ice fishing gear, I say that because those fish were so aggressive that as soon as your jig was 6 inches deep they were swarming it. Small tungsten's and waxies and those 2 boys caught more small bluegill and perch than we could keep up with to take off the hook for them. Of course when you drive around LeMars Iowa you stop at the Wells Blue Bunny Ice Cream Parlor!
Crappies are biting pretty good 8-15' deep on jigs with power minnows. nobody fishing the spot. Could be the ahole that lives right by the spot, the guy with the garden gnome giving people the finger.
I finally picked up the new rig on Friday afternoon. It's a 2022 Lund 1775 Impact XS with a Merc 115 Pro XS. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to get on the water with it this weekend. The previous owner didn't take the best care of it, so I spent a few hours cleaning it up last night. Vacuumed out the interior and all the storage compartments, then washed it and removed all the water spots. Then I loaded all my gear into it so she's ready to go. I need to square away trailer registration and plates this week so I don't get pulled over. Hoping to get out Friday evening or Sunday evening, depending on the weather. My kids are excited to get out and do some tubing as well. This is our last weekend of baseball tournaments, so we're almost home free! Time to enjoy summer while we can. The prop is pretty beat up so I plan on replacing that, and I need to redo the registration lettering. It's terrible looking. And as vain as it may be, I will replace the trailer wheels with something that looks nicer. It bothers me finally having a nice boat and having ugly steel wheels on the trailer.
I am speaking at a conference today and my pocket is vibrating, I get done and it is texts from my wife out catching crappies, in the afternoon. Sorry love of my life a little busy working to respond.
