So i am home early ... Trolling motor took a crap on us the first 10 minutes out on the lake. Got to fish 4 hours without it and it sucked. Fishing would have been awesome. After wasting Friday morning with no fix in sight we came home. Got two nice ones the 4 hours we did fish.
Thought I'd share! My old man getting it done like always. He's been catching carp like this for the past few springs/summers. The guy is a fish magnet and living his best life. He lives for fishing and has a pin from the state for almost every category. Nothing fancy about his gear or boats. He's the guy who has the older restored boat and consistently out fishes all the "Bruh/Bro fishermen" with their Yeti coolers, decked-out bass boats, etc.. The best part is, he is a catch-and-release fisherman. He rarely keeps what he catches, and typically only keeps saltwater fish for fish fries or his fish chowder.
Is that what a smile looks like after having to deal with all your shenanigans over the years What a whopper! Sounds like a great dad!
Taking off Saturday for another 7 day trip to Dale Hollow. Hopefully there will be no boat break downs this time!
First fish of 2023. Haha. Man I found so many deer tracks. Also found a funeral home that has close to 10 acres near this conservation area...I bet there is a monster buck or two in there.
Best of luck BHH. Sure to see a pic of you lipping a good one. VS, I'd take a 5 gallon bucket of those tasty morsels!. Here I am still looking at a 3' snowdrift covering a foodplot
Open water and the bay is full of activity bet the northerns are spawning. Good to see fish jumping again.
Mother nature conspired against us, but we previaled against the cold front and high winds.... No boat problems was a god send! Here are a few of the better ones. Nothing huge but solid fish.
Looking all over in the garage I had bought a whole card of bumble bee flies, I was going to see if they are up biting yet. Suppose I could get away with the old ratty fly 1 more time.
Heading up to Albany tonight. Party tonight fish for stripers in the morning. The guide said fishing has been good i boated a 45 incher last year. Hopefully the boys and I will have some good pics tomorrow. Boat launches at 600am, that’s the tough part. Beers on ice.
We survived party night on Tuesday it wasn’t easy. Wednesday morning we boated 10 fish but only 1 stripe. We got a couple drums and catfish. The captain hit something the day before with one of his motors so he couldn’t get us to his good spots with only one motor. We are going back up the 21st captain wanted to make it right that’s only a day trip so it will be easy on the the liver. Hers the pic of the drum. It put up a pretty good fight.
After our weak trip to Sturgeon Bay two weeks ago, I was looking for an excuse to go back up and try again. My son had a small break in his baseball schedule, and the weather was absolutely perfect, so we jetted up for a day-and-a-half trip. We ended up catching 40-50 fish and had an absolute blast. Nothing over 5, but more 4 to 4.5 pounders than you can shake a stick at. From here on out, we'll mostly be fishing largemouth here at home and during our annual July 4th trip to the Upper Peninsula. I also have my boat up for sale, so I'm hoping to dump it soon and upgrade to something a little bit bigger.
Love those smallies Justin!!! I am taking off at 5am with my oldest son for a week on Lake of the Woods in Ontario in hopes of finding the smallmouth on the boulders around the islands. When we hit it right, it can be insanely good action. The walleye are always on fire and we will also be looking for some big northerns.
Lake is on fire, pan fish on beds, they all get released. There are a couple hog bass between my dock on the neighbors, boat landing aholes a foot off my dock. I know I do not own the lake but come on. Plus those bass are so educated they are not falling for heavy line in clear water.
