Drilling holes in the neighbors house, granted the floor is about a foot above the ice I maxed my auger out getting to water. Love electric augers, you punch thru to water and then hit reverse to blow most of the ice shavings back under the ice.
Start fishing at 6:00 28' of water. Bigger fish suspended in deeper water vs the smaller fish up on the weed flat.
Never mind son is bringing up halibut and salmon for fish tacos. I am making a ramen coleslaw sweet western infusion with bacon, raisens and carlmelized onions.
First open water fish of the Spring. I had to go do some fence work by the pond so I grabbed a pole and caught two trout in just a few minutes.
Enough from you open water people. The snow from my patio to the lake is hip deep, the 8's drop to the water is a drifted ramp. I will be lucky to see open water before May. Another kick in the seeds the state fair is 175 days away, in 190 days I will be pondering when the dock is going to get pulled.
Man oh Man would I like a few #s of that about now. Shot coyote # 30 for this winter a few days ago. All have been left for the eagles. Aint trudging trough Nutt deep snow to drag back a 10.00 coyote.
The deer and turkeys are already starting to munch on the grass and clover that is greening up by my cabin on the south slopes. You are probably only 4 hours or so north of me, but that makes a huge difference in the Spring and Fall. I can drive 3 to 4 hours south and fish open water all winter long.
Matty’s first open water fish of the season from a couple weeks ago down at the farm. We’re still waiting on the big lakes to open up at our main house but hopefully in a couple weeks we’ll be able to get the boat out for our first trip!
Going to take the boat out Thursday for a spring shake down run. Might as well try the crappie and bass while I'm out! Hope to have pics to share later!
Boat did great today. It's ready for some big water. Managed to catch 15 nice crappie also. Biggest was 14 inches. Most were 9 to 10 inches long. Fish fry this weekend for sure.
