Bought the Minnesota map card for the depth finder, now have maps of every lake in Minnesota except Lake of the woods. Might have to branch out and travel a little.

People were out on the lake evidently there is 4" of ice. I was not going to be the first idiot on the ice.

We threw spinners and jigs and caught three trout yesterday in my pond, open water still. We were out there to pull the pontoon out for the season and decided to fish for a while. Looks like we could possibly have fishable ice by Christmas.

Scouted today and found what looks to be a good catfishing spot right on the Missouri River. You all think something would hit this time of year? Some fish have to be trapped in there....

Unless of course the state has a law that prevents you from fishing "trapped" fish.

Yeah, its a thing in WI. We had a river draw down to fix a dam and the DNR posted signs with the relevant section.

I didn't get it. Let them starve or suffocate in the small pools??

Let them die of natural causes to avoid looking “unsportsmanlike” if they media catches the story (pun intended) Someone should have tried to get whatever bureaucrat made that decision for wanton waste violations.

Going to drill some holes and scout a little tomorrow, I do not agree with the map card about the lake.

Heading to Red Lake today. Seems every trip we plan is affected by a major weather system. Potential blizzard conditions with win chills approaching -30 to -40 expected. Don't expect to catch much but when a buddy has an extra spot you have to take it.

Bet there will be a major storm during our Lake of the Woods trip New Years too.

We had one day of safe ice on Tuesday. We went to the family farm and fished the larger lake which had 3 1/2 inches of clear ice.

It was crazy. Drilled a couple of holes and never moved. Ice is all gone now. Indiana doesn't get much of an ice fishing season!

The ones that didn't get put back down the hole.

My experiment in the lone fisherman on the south end did not pan out, didn't even mark fish. Guess I will join the crowd on the north end tomorow, pan fried skin on blue gill sounds dang good for new years.

And that is exactly what did and will happen with those gills. Kids coming by Sunday for a big fish fry!
