Caught a dandy on the Mississippi this summer too, been a good summer of fishing but I’m ready for fall! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
My oldest son is up in CT visiting his wife's kin ...he brought a lot of fishing gear, but is having some fun this morning with his fly rod...
Muddled color on this one, thoughts? I figure must've been a Sr Citizen. Brett he says Carp on the fly rod is a hoot. I tell him they're for bowfishing... I don't miss these guys, but we didn't have gar up north...a mouthful of teeth in either case.
I miss salmon fishing. I have yet to find a species of fish in the south that fights like salmon. A 30lb+ salmon will make you feel like it can rip the rod and your arm off.
Could have caught a hundred based off the way they were biting but got enough for a couple sandwiches today! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Lost what would have been my best bass of the year yesterday afternoon. I was standing on a rock wall and it git my crank bait three feet feom the wall. I ripped it outthe water on the hookset and smacked the fish on the wall, knocking the hook out. Goodbye 4lber.
Lake MI has given up 2 big ones in the past couple weeks. On the WI side, a 40.4 # was taken and on the MI side a 47+ pounder.
Usually I get very motion-sick. But, our lake has been like glass lately. So, a good family friend (he's like my second dad) called me and said - it's smooth again - you wanna go?! He's asked me so many times, that I'm like, yeah, I'll go. Took some Dramamine and ate some lunch - then out we went. It was like glass. (for water anyways). Caught my first ever walleye and it was the biggest catch of the day! We also limited out with a four man limit! They said this year, the walleye have been so much better then the past two years. Now, hopefully same will go for perch.
Took my youngest today. Tried our darndest to catch some carp but failed. Haha. We then had about 15 min of sunlight to spare so I swung by a local creek and she caught about 8 to 10 panfish/hybrids. Was fun!
Jeff that water level is still 2 feet above what is was before the flooding. Also, I saw a massive tree stuck between some scrub trees and the railroad tracks...10 feet higher than the current water levels!
Oldest and I fished together today. Had a lot of fun and laughs. 15 feet high on railroad tracks bobber fishing. We were laughing every fish catch.
