I figured. I used to live just outside of Albany and fished the striper run every year. Congrats on some great fish!
Water was cold and it was lightly raining this morning. Got there at sun up. Caught a nice 16 incher in 1st hour then nothing for hours. Switched to top water when rain started letting up....hammered em for an hour. Caught 4 nice fish, the last of which was a great one...prob 19 inches or so. All 4 fish were 17 plus.
Went back out this afternoon. Got poured on for an hour. Did catch 1 nice 1 Over about a 2 hr period. Close to a citation today.
I let em go. Keep that place healthy with big fish. Citation is for 20 inch smallmouth. Haha. Not legal stuff.
Casted a bumblebee fly couple times this morning nothing biting, too early. Wife has been pounding the sunnies and crappies in the kayak.
Wife hooked into a huge snapping turtle, the hook was in it's front leg. little unnerving pulling out a hook within striking distance of a big old pissed off snapping turtle.
Rumor has it the longer you are married, the more prepared you are for dealing with old things that snap.
We had a couple of free hours on Sat afternoon after baseball, so we snuck out to a local quarry that's catch-and-release only. Smallies are all getting on beds and we smashed them pretty good. Would have stayed longer but mama bear was hungry and we were supposed to be picking up dinner on the way home. Should've just ordered her a pizza and kept fishing.
I remember a funny cop story about a snapping turtle. A cop on our dept got all these rave reviews for picking up a giant snapping turtle over and over and walking it over to a wagon to transport it to the nearest body of water. This goes on for minutes with him struggling and on Facebook he is a hero. Comes to work the next day and someone says, "why didn't you just bring the wagon over to the turtle instead of spending minutes walking the turtle twenty yards to the wagon?". We all bust out laughing.

It must be turtle mating season? I've seen 2 snappers crossing the roads in the last couple of days. Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk
