Pulled the shrink wrap off mine last week and finished up a new sonar install project just the other day. I have a few new spots down by our new farm with no ice that I want to check out and play with sonar settings on hopefully in the next week or so. For those of you that have to store over the winter, this Grandpa Gus’s mouse repellant is the only thing I’ve found that will actually work. Second year in a row I’ve used it over the winter and once again no mice, plus it smells pretty good! Grandpa Gus’s
Every year the DEC does a spring shocking of a local trout stream for info gathering. Normally Son ,hubby and grandson go to see this. It's kinda a big event before April 1 opener. This year Son took grandson they had a great time but no clue they were about to get really sick. Ooppss..
I’ve been posting some fishing updates in my team thread but I forgot all about this thread. I haven’t done any fishing here in Missouri yet, but I did make two trips to Tennessee to fish for bass in my old favorite spot. It’s a TWRA lake near Drummonds, TN. The lake used to have a 10 bass limit with a 14”-18” slot limit and only one bass over 18” could be kept. Now there is no creel limit although you can still only keep one bass over 18”. Over the two trips we fished 7 days and brought home 172 bass and one 15” crappie that bit a Rat-L-Trap. Here are a few pics from the two trips. I didn’t catch any big ones, but some were really nice. The biggest was a 20” 4 1/2 pounder.
I went out for the first time here at home today. The bite was A LOT slower than Tennessee but I still didn’t do too bad.
Sending the fishing shelter and the wheeler to the farm today, will be nice to have that space back in the garage.
Got everything packed and heading out this morning for another year of chasing big small mouth on Dale Hollow. This marks my 43 year of hooking up with 7 life long friends to make this annual pilgrimage. Lots of laughs, good food and drinks will be shared. Hopefully we will have good fishing to go along with the great fellowship.
Snow showers and rain made for tough fishing the first couple days but I managed to finally connect this evening.
Had tornado come through last night. Boat got hammered in the slip. Broken trolling motor and front deck seat base cracked. Had to jump in another boat today. Managed to catch some this evening.
Well the storm that battered my boat turned out to be a thorn with a rose! Turned the damage in on insurance and came out smelling like a rose so to speak. Getting some much needed updates as a result of it. Got a new Xi3 trolling motor with gps and anchor mode, Helix SI and DI with gps lake mapping, new pedistal seat base and bow cap ordered an on the way. Had enough left over to replace rod that got broken. Rehab on the boat starts today! Time to get it ready for the new toys that are on the way!
