If I lived on a lake or had a relative on one I'd love to build a 10x14 or so skid.

Reminiscing a little today. Remember this day. Made the kids hike deep out into the woods to fish a bank. I caught this fish and handed Isabel the pole to finish the job. She was like 5 years old. hahaha! She was screaming. Good times.

The siding on the skid house has to match the house down to shingles.

Beauty of that in the summer the snow blower and other stuff can be stored, have to choose between a bigger shed (no footings but electricity) or the skid house for summer storage.

Weather is supposed to be decent this weekend, might as well get out there and fish, the late winter crappie bite should be picking up soon. Anybody else notice the wax worms dieing? Seems like a tub of them are all dead within 2 weeks of purchase.

So neighbor 2 doors down gifted us a bag of sunfish filets from the lake. Not to be an a hole, but I am. Wife took the fillets to wash them and I started to pick them out to season. 1st what the hell tiny fillets throw them back 2nd black speck filets DNR says as long as the fish is cooked well it is safe. Nope not going to eat a fish with a parasite in it's flesh at any temperature. Threw it in the trash and ate vegetables for dinner.

My fishing schedule for 2022 is filling up fast April largemouth fishing central Florida, taking the wife fishing for peacock bass as soon as school is over south florida, then the trip to the secret smallmouth spot in June, followed by fishing cape cod, then a florida kayak trip with tarpon fishing with our favorite captain chummy charters. I need a lake Erie Trip I want a big smallie for the wall, I have a friend for that too.

Was a couple pretty good days for us! Also caught a pile of catfish with the smallest being the one in the pic. My wife and daughter also came out for a few hours yesterday. Great trip. [IMG][IMG][IMG]

Not sure on the meaning of a flowage I guess. It's a lake with a ~1/4 mile inlet and a sloughish lake on one end. No actual river system.

Black specs are no problem. I' ve seen those many times in different lakes. No impact to flavor or your health.

Now, if its a large (1/8" to 3/16"), white lump, then you have to cook the fish well to eat it. That body of water has a parasite. Those lumps show up later in summer.

Sunfish and blue gill have to be pretty large to get a decent fillet. They are all ribs. Very easy to turn them into a fish chip by over cooking.

I know about the black spots and I am not eating anything with visible parasites in it. I have filleted sunfish many times the fish were were given should have been thrown back. I come from the generation where you mock people that keep little fish.

The catfish usually live in areas with flowing water, that is why I asked.

Gotcha. Figured that's why you are asking. Never catch them until the time of the winter so something with their pattern changes as we get closer to spring.
