I haven't been out in a month and I'm going through withdrawals. LOL I was too busy finishing up my son's travel baseball in early July, then spent a weekend in Vegas and a weekend doing annoying deer hunting stuff. I finally have a weekend where I may be able to sneak out and it looks like it's going to be super hot, humid and stormy. Awesome.

Day for the ages today. I'm beyond humbled. Caught close to 10 smallies this afternoon and landed my biggest smallies in over 20 years...on back to back casts!!! 2 20210806_171834.jpg 20210806_171820.jpg 20210806_170547.jpg

Took the grandson down to the dock, he takes getting wax worms out of the container very seriously. I have a feeling I am going to spend lots of hours taking fish off the hook for the young lad.

True story - my grandpa once told my grandma he thought I was gay because I couldn't (or wouldn't) take my fish off the hook. I was 10.

When I fish with my wife she does not bait a hook or take a fish off, yet she fishes a lot while I am at work:confused:

    Cownose Ray.jpg

This was my best catch this year.
Cownose ray caught at Huntington Beach State Park South Carolina.
No it was not released but was very tasty! Tasted like swordfish.
45 minute fight and a mile walk to land this sucker as well.

That they do! I was sore for 3 days after that fight. But I also ate like a king for those days eating that ray.

Havent been able to fish for weeks. Its over 100 here but the hell with it, I'm headed to the river. River has been raging for 2 weeks. Finally looks decent today. I need one more 18 plus inch smallie to get me through until bow season.

I hammered them. First catch of the day I caught an 18 incher. Caught 11 total, 4 of which were between 17 and 19 inches. Finally figuring out these river smallies. The wife says I need to work on my selfie faces. Lol...I don't post them anywhere but here.

I totally ran out of the house and forgot to bring them. I actually have them with me now and my buddy and I are gonna give them a go though. I don't know this stretch of river river very well but I'm gonna try those baits and I really appreciate it. I'll let you know...this river is 70 miles from the house. Ha. My buddy worked all last night and I wanted to meet him close to his house to fish.
