After last weeks hell work week I have to fish. This will be me in about an hour as the thunderstorms descend upon my fishing area.
Flood stage but screw it. Slowed down and started thinking about my dad. Right about my age he had 23 yrs in the Marine Corps. He would go to work super early just to meet me for the last 2 hours to smallmouth fish. Flood stage. Dont care.
Here is a view from the lake I was fishing at. Chasing some cutthroat trout for next two days. Although I’m apparently not very good at it since I didn’t catch a thing. But with a view like this I could go home fishless and be happy! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Leaky jon boat. Check Cooler full of old mil. Check Good Fishing buddy. Check Pork steaks braising on the grill. Check I think that pretty much covers it all.
Caught 14 largemouth tonight. All under a pound. Cleaned them all to eat. This pond needs some management
I learned a valuable lesson about those a few years back - replace them every couple years, always carry a spare, and whatever you do, never install them on the exterior side of the hull. I learned that when I had mine fall out on the ride out to the Gulf Stream. Didn’t realize it until we got out there and got off plane and the boat started filling up. Luckily I’ve got a decent bilge pump which bought me enough time to figure out that you can fashion a temporary plug using a hollow rubber squid with an egg sinker stuck inside it and a little electrical tape so I was able to salvage the days fishing and my buddy was pretty happy that he wasn’t going to have to make the 60 mile ride back to shore laying in the back of the boat with his finger stuck in the drain hole.
How much did you say the wife spends on Choi fish??? LOL I hear ya... at $2500 a pop.... I can throw out an anchor
Got home 4 sucker minnows (small) left. Then Fly rod for sunnies then jigging for bass. Have a beer between disciplines life is good.
You have to have the built in excuse before you go, probably won't catch anything it's dog days, that way people are not mocking when you come home empty handed.....again.
Calm winds tied a new bumblebee fly on, just waiting for the a-holes from the cities to park the jet ski and head home so the waters calm.
