spring time is baseball time for me... Never been able to turkey hunt cause i was playing while growing up, now coaching in the same boat. Fall turkey season is during deer season, so i guess im kind of out there looking for them.

We just got sunday hunting passed, so next year im hoping to try it a bit

I do both. In New York State we can only Spring Turkey hunt until noon. So morning is turkey time and afternoon is fishing with the wife time (she LOVES fishing - she regularly out-fishes me!).

You have all May, June, July and August to fish. Where as you have 5-35 aprox. days to turkey hunt. I would go ahead and cut back a little on the fishing during turkey season.

also for someone who already has a bow/shotgun it costs less to get into compared to most other types of hunting. It is well worth the investment in my eyes.

haha this sounds a lot like me. It's really hard for me to pass up any spare minute from fishing, but when something is in season, and I have the time, I choose to be in the woods, hands down. And how do you know you wont like it even more than fishing if you have never tried? I would definitely give it a shot this year.

Last season was my first turkey season. I'll be honest, it never really appealed to me. But once I was out there, I was a blast. Just something about being out there and hearing those gobbles get closer and closer. It's a rush. I played chess with a huge bird that had probably a 10" beard. I saw him all 4 days of my season but I never could get him to commit to the decoys. He stayed at around 60yds, gobbled, strutted, carried on, but he would just wander away.

I play baseball and have it almost everyday so I don't have much option to turkey hunt. If I have a day without practice or a game I get the rods and the boat out.

Can only hunt until noon for the first half of the season here in PA. Afternoon is peak trout season. Easy decision. :)

    Second this.

Usually start fishing a lot after the second restock, but I dont mind cutting back on my time fishing to chase some turkeys.

You could easily spend $50 on some calls and a decoy and spend a week calling gobblers. I'm choosing to hunt just one weekend this year for Turkey and the rest is dedicated to Walleye!

Softball and baseball LOL!! My daughter is on her Varsity softball team and also plays travel softball and my son has his Little League. Not too much time for turkey or fishing but if we can, we will find a day or two to sneak out after a bird. Fishing can be done the rest of the summer.

I used to be nutty about turkey hunting. I was putting in 400+ miles of driving every weekend to hunt multiple states for the entire season. I got a bit burned out on it because of that. I actually enjoy the chess game of running and gunning with a shotgun more than sitting in a blind waiting with a bow when I do hunt them. I'll still do it if it means spending time with good friends, but otherwise I'd rather be on the boat these days.

There is just something that gets me going about the smell of two stroke oil burning early in the morning while the sun is rising and knowing there are fish to be caught. This is one of the very best times of the year to be fishing as well...............so it's tough for me to walk away from that to kill more turkeys these days.

In my opinion it's worth it! I love to fish but nothing beats being out in the woods with a bow rifle or shotgun in your hand. Not even an awesome day on the river!

Hunt til 10 minutes after daylight, throw my bird in the truck, then go fishing! Haha, I wish it was that easy. We can hunt til 1 here, so I do that then fish or hunt mushrooms in the afternoon.

I do both, but you gotta try turkey hunting. I went for the first time bowhunting turkeys, didnt score but absolutley loved every second of it. Give it a try, best of luck, GROMMEL.
