Hey guys wondering if you could help me well really my aunt and uncle out. They are going to Alaska this summer and will be doing some fishing and need some help I thought some guys on here might know.

She posted this on Facebook and I knew she would get a lot of help so I jumped in.

"Alaska fishing? Any one who has fished in Alaska- when is the best time of the year to go fishing, what kind of fish, and special gear or typical fly rod? We are going to be in the talkeetna, seward, and anchorage areas. Their fishing regulations are unreal!guidance please"

If anyone has any info I could relay back to them It would be greatly appreciated. (if more info is needed I can try and get it, if it helps)

My best advice is to hire a guide for a few days to learn the ropes. It can cut the learning curve substantially. There are literally hundreds in the area they are going to so google is likely your friend on which one to go with.

Type of fishing is completely up to them. They can do rivers, lake, saltwater, deep saltwater, trolling... It would help if THEY first chose what they wanted to fish for and then picked a time of year and where to go from there. Great Halibut fishing in deep saltwater with a guide may not coincide with the best time to catch the silvers and kings making the runs up the river.

Thanks for the tips, they will be going in the summer. I will let them know about a guide but depending on how much that is they may go just DIY.
