This Saturday June 12th. 10am to 4pm. Pere Marquette State Park near Grafton Illinois. Pictures from last year: http://forums.bowhunting.com/showthread.php?t=4343&highlight=fishing+fair Hope to see some of you there. We could still use a couple more volunteers for the Kid's shooting ranges! The river will be up (as usual) but we'll still try the backwaters for some bowfishing afterwards. :D http://www.greatriverroad.com/Cities/Grafton/fishFair.htm
Well it's in the books now... The estimate we heard Saturday evening was 1700 kids signed up. I don't know what the temperature got up to. But it was more than warm. A huge thank you to all the brave souls who came and lent a hand. Phildo did great while us oldsters were seeking shade as often as possible, he was a one man show. Thanks to John for breakfast and the bowfishing guide service afterwards. Thanks also to all the rest who came and helped. Gretchen and Adam, Liz, Ryan, Jeff, Scott and I think "Don" the local NWTF chapter President. (If it's not Don and you're on here please correct me) I think it speaks volumes to the popularity of bowfishing that during such a hot day we had a big waiting line all morning and some line almost all afternoon. I looked at the other booths that I could see from ours and none of them had waiting lines. I also couldn't help overhearing kids begging to try the bowfishing booth and their parents telling them quite plainly, "We are NOT waiting in THAT line!" Can't say I blamed them at all.
