Hello, all. I have been raised around hunting my whole life, but never actually took up the sport. I can no longer say the same. I have my bow set up and ready for my first hunt.

Any last minute advice before I go out to the woods and make all kinds of newbie mistakes?

    Thanks.

Just enjoy it. Try to learn something new every time you go out. Pick a spot on the deer, wherever you want that arrow to go focus on that not the entire deer. But above all enjoy each hunt.

Ditto. Have fun and enjoy it! It's some of the best peace and quiet you will probably ever get! I know I love it!

Have fun and just enjoy it! If a buck comes in and it gets your heart racing and gets you all shook up, than pick a very small spot on it like a wrinkle in the skin or a patch a hair right by the pump house and let it fly! Also make sure that you know exactly how far 20 and 30 yards are in multiple spots that you may shoot, things look a lot further away than they actually are due to elevation in a treestand, if you're in a blind still know yardage. And probally most of all do not shot the deer and hop down and track it even if it's a perfect shot, stay in the stand, call all the people you want to know, and hold out for at least 30 minutes before picking up on a trail to make sure he is expired. 2 MOST IMPORTANT THINGS: 1) be safe, wear a harness and take your time getting in and out of the stand, and 2) just have fun and enjoy it, nothing is more exciting than actually seeing a deer come in and you being undetected and just watching it so close to you. Good luck and make sure to post a lot of pictures and a story on here!! Oh and when you get your first deer remember you only get one first, so take a lot of pics with it and if there isn't good lighting pull that bad Jessie back out the next day in sunlight so you can take some good pics with it and really see what he looks like in light.

Thanks, guys. I haven't been this excited about something in a long time. I'll be sure to post pics when I bring one in!

Oh and also when shooting from a stand do not lower your arm for a lower shot, draw normal and than keep your arms still and be day the waist to get lower so you do not change the inside angles of your arms and anchor point

Uh best advice, would be the shot, pick the spot and keep your pin on it even after you shoot. That will cure lots of mistakes. And just have fun like you already are. We all can't wait for it to get here but it's a blast preparing for it. Good luck

Same boat man! Going out on a pig hunt here in CA. Putting my scouting skills to the test and hoping to tag a good one. Bow is setup, practice has been done, now it's time to hunt! I just hope I don't get too excited and torque the bow or anything. Good luck and hope you have fun, I know I will!
