Hi everybody, I'm 25, I just got married and live in Washington state. This is my first year hunting. Weapon of choice a Mission Craze and I love it. I'm going to take down my first elk next month. I am so excited. Any tips or advice would be greatly accepted.

Welcome as well! I just joined the forum recently too and it's addicting! From one new bow hunter to another, the best advice I have is to shoot your bow A LOT! I've actually sprinted to the end of my court and back and then shot my bow winded. It was the best thing I could do to simulate "Buck Fever"! It will come!

Welcome to the forum and be it the sport, religion or what ever bow hunting becomes for you. As mentioned all ready use the search function on the forums and you'll find ample information on elk hunting are just general bow hunting for that matter.

Hello, welcome to the board. I shoot a Mission Craze - really like the bow.

The best pull weight depends on what you are able to do. The states all have different minimums. I personally shoot white tail at 40# - but because of the lower poundage, my max shot (That I'm comfortable with) is 20 yards. If I were to go after an Elk - I'd want to pull more than that.

    Best of luck.

55 to 60 with a sharp broad head and you will harvest your first elk 3 inches behind the front leg just below center mass he or she should expire pretty quick happy hunting

With a good shot in the boiler room, low poundage should be good. If you feel you may be shooting a little further, get comfortable shooting 55-60 lbs if you can, because you may have to pull and hold that if you want to get that good shot off.

    welcome!

Practice as much as you can and shoot from either your stand or blind you'll be hunting out of. Make sure you practice sitting down also Ive had deer sneak in behind me while sitting down and had to shoot that way and its just something thats good to get yourself familiar with.
