Feathers hands down steer the best. And definitely look sharp. The great big turkey heads designed to lop their heads off are all recommended to be used with 4" to 5" feathers in a four fletch to steer them. My kid's first bow was a little youth model wheel bow, shoot off the riser type. It came with 3 arrows that were 3 fletched with plastic 2" vanes. No matter what I did they would contact the riser and fly out with the arrow whipping back and forth. I stripped them and fletched with some 4" feather vanes, instant improvement in how they looked in flight and his accuracy.
