I am looking at getting my first bow and need some suggestions.
I am left eye dominate and shoot a pistol right handed BUT my natural draw uses my left eye to line up the sights. Now when it comes to using a rifle or shotgun, ever since I was young, I shoot left handed so.........

Do you suggest that I get a lefthanded or right handed bow? I know its a bit messed up, and most guns cost more for lefthanded users but I usually use a right handed one and deal with the ejection of the shells towards my face.

    Anyway...... I appreciate your suggestions.

    Thanks

My suggestion would be to try to shoot both LH and RH if there is any question in your mind about which to use. As for price...i haven't noticed much difference between LH and RH.

Being Left Eye dominate...my guess is that a LH bow is going to suit you better then the RH. But you will need to try both. Hope that helps a litte! Good luck!

My son is left eye, right handed also...

I got him a new bow for Christmas and set it up left handed, he is shooting MUCH better.

He does everything else right handed, writing, throwing, shooting so far.

From my research, if you shoot both eyes open (he does) you are better off with a left hand bow. Shoot a pistol left handed and shoot with your right hand/eye when doing long gun stuff.

This has been something I am paying a lot of attention to lately with him starting to hunt and shoot with me.

    Good luck!

    advice from a geezer

I was a lefty forced to do everything right-handed. My hand writing even had a left-handed slant when using the right.

Go with the dominant eye. I bought my last 4 bows right-handed and now, because my left has really taken over (I’m now 56), I have to use an occluder over my left eye when shooting.

The next rig I set up will be left-handed…for sure.

Without blocking my dominant left eye, I wind up with two groups depending on which eye was in control at the time of release. The groups get farther apart the greater the distance to the target.
