Hello All, This is my second post. First one is a classified add lol. Anyway ive been into archery for over 40 years. I shoot an old 198? Hoyt/Easton Pro Hunter. Ive been setting up an ameture 3D course on my property upstate. Ive been upgrading the old bow with a Hogg Father 2 pin sight an AAE Freakshow and just made a fresh dozen arrows. Thank you for allowing me on your forum. I love helping people and learning everyday something new about archery. Be well RH5
Welcome. I'm originally from NY, but move to the South around 30 yrs ago. "Upstate NY" is vague...where abouts?
I have a small piece in Pawling NY. Id like to do what you did move south. I just retired waiting on wife 5 more years to go
Welcome You just won't find a better group of guys anywhere. My first bow was a Hoyt Raider/ intruder she was a great bow for 15+yrs. Shooting a mission Venture now. From my perspective your down state..lol
Yeah been shooting the Hoyt since a was a kid. lol i knew someone was going to bring that up cause im from Long Island and Pawling is only 45-1 drive for me. That is downstate lol
I went to college in Poughkeepsie, but grew up in Saratoga county. Welcome. The pace of life, taxes/cost of living and friendliness of folks in the South are much better…imho.
I hate Nassau County mostly the people. I want to move to Suffolk when my wife retires. More space and nicer people by the forks of LI IMO
Yeah Pawling isn't far from Poughkeepsie at all. My friend went to Poughkeepsie College too. He used to skip classes and we would shoot all day. The good ole days
HEY... small world. My grampa (and his 5th wife /long story) lived in Walton. I actually asked my wife if she'd like to take a trip down there to see the old town and find the house they use to live in this past week. It's beautiful down there. He use to take my brother and me fishing for trout around there in the cricks and reservoirs. He was a full-blooded Scotsman and loved his whiskey and boiler makers. I was 13 when he took me to a bar there... bought me a Coke and had the barmaid put a cherry in the glass. Ahhhhh, the memories. Heck, I remember when Cannonsville was a town!
Walton, what a great town. The property I went to was an old friend of my dad George Norton. He has passed since then. I always wanted him to know he was a huge influence on me. Especially archery! I would shoot his bow for hours. Never minded when I broke an arrow of his. Now knowing how much arrows are he was a good man. The Whirly Birds was the club i used to visit as a kid. Good chatting with you.
I'm excited, we here in 8a/8c get a early season 9/10-9/18. Thought I would hate it last year but it's a great chance to fill the freezer and giving the woods a chance to cool down before prime time. Sent from my Pixel 6 using Tapatalk
