I recently started a few lines of mock scrapes on a couple of my properties. I hung one of my cams (Stealth) on the "Super scrape" from years past and freshened it up. Ive gotten mature buck pictures here 3 years running, and it always produces for me. I used the Tinks mock scrape starter (same stuff i did last year) So far i have lots of doe and fawn traffic, and some of the does are super mature... If they keep frequenting the area, then the big boys are bound to show up soon...
Very cool, I'm new to the mock scrape thing, curious if I'll get any traffic. You definitely struck the curiosity of a bunch of deer so far! I am gonna look into that product. I ended up putting one of the tarsal glands from my buddy's young buck in a jar with water, shook it up and let it sit for ahwile. Used some of that in what I think is a good little area, but we'll see. Didn't have anything to put on the licking branch-height branch though.. Keep us updated, I'm interested... I remember the big boys showing up at the "super scrape" !
Adam, Im kinda cheating with the super scrape, it gets hit every year regardless of whether i freshen it up or not. Ill have that camera on it till at least the end of November...unless it really stops producing. My cuddeback which is on another property is on a completely brand new scrape that i made 20 yards from a PRIME bedding area. Its the first of 5 mock scrapes i made in a line on a ridge leading too/from that bedding area. Im excited to see what shows up, ill probably check that camera later this week.
Tomorrow the Cuddeback gets checked after 12 days of being on a different mock scrape (first time ever having one in this location).. Im excited...
