Hey ya'll it's my first year going after Whitetails. I have some hunting experience with hogs but I'm wondering what are your tips for bagging a buck. Also what broad heads should I be using?

Hey, I'm new to the site, but have been hunting my whole life. My best advice would be to learn how to use topographic maps... it's a game changer for knowing where to scout for big bucks on the properties you will be hunting. There's a good book titled "Mapping Trophy Bucks". The book will introduce you to using terrain to identify where deer will most likely travel on your property, as well as how weather affects your hunts, such as: pressure systems, wind direction, and thermals. BTW, hunting the right wind will be critical to success.

As far as broadheads, I use the Rage 3-blade expandable. I find they simulate the field tips you practice with.

    Hope this helps.

Ok thanks I'll definitely check out that book. My map skills are definitely lacking so I'll have to fix that as well since it will be in an area I'm not familiar with.

Yeah, I used to spend a lot of time scouting b/c I didn't really know where to start. But now I feel that I'm more strategic about how I scout new spots which has resulted in more bucks. Are you whitetail hunting in south Florida?

Oh no the deer aren't really good in my area it's mostly wetlands. I'm relocating to TN near Nashville so I'll hunt there and my family and Virginia just bought a bunch of land near Louisa.

That's what I figured. I knew the deer were pretty small in Florida. Nashville is a great place and not too far from some of the best hunting around... in western KY.

I'll definitely look into Kentucky, and I plan on spending most of my weekend browsing the forums and checking out the episodes. Really itching to get out there this season and trying to get more than hogs.
