Pulled my chips for the first time this year. Got a couple good pictures of bucks, but I'm most disappointed by the pictures from my Covert Black 60. A lot of pictures I have of moving deer, whether they're walking or running, day or night, are blurry. Not sure if this is normal? Anyone see similar results or have any tips to fix this?
I have a couple Coverts MP6s and aren't that impressed with them either. Lots of blurry pictures and the flash is weaker than my other cameras. I hate to even bring it up on here though, we might get run out of the forum.
I personally dont see what is wrong with them black60 pictures(NICE bucks too!) Maybe put it on 3 picture mode so if the deer is on the move maybe one will be good.
Yea for every lets say 5 pics 1 or two of them are blurry. This is with most cams that I have thats why I like burst photos. Try that out. Most of the pics you see posted are everyones good ones. we do get a bunch of blurry pics too
There is no reason to get run off the forum for just having an opinion on a product. I personally don't see the problem with the blurry pictures, I mean if the animal is in motion that would happen with any camera. Nonetheless, nice pics.
I know what you mean, but all ir cameras have blurry movement pictures (it has to do with shutter speed and the time required to gather light). The Moultries are especially bad with it. Coverts actually are pretty good compared to others. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy s4
I will agree, I have used more game cams than I care to admit and have been using them since they came out back when they were 35mm film models. I have no allegiance. Right now I'm tunning a Covert Black60 and a Reconyx RC60 and will say the Reconyx is superior in every way other than picture quality. I have noticed more blurred pictures with the Covert as well as more blank photos, more washout from flash, ect. The thing is, for the price, you simply can't beat the Covert... Bushnells may be etter but they just don't last. I tell people that if you have the money to spend and little chance of theft... go Reconyx, if you are on a budget go with the Covert and deal with the few short comings but realize that you wont find a cam in the same price range that is better.
Just about any camera is going to have blurry pics if the deer is moving at a decent pace. This is especially true during the summer when there's a good canopy of leaves blocking the sunlight from getting through. Since the camera has to keep the lens open longer to gather enough light, the pics tend to be blurry. It's just the nature of the beast unfortunately. As for your first blank pic - don't feel bad. I have an MP6 that's taken about 2,700 pics of the corn growing over the past month. I'm also with Christine, I dig that last buck pic. Not just his rack, but it almost looks like he's bedded down since the weeds are so tall.
Nice buck! I have used Bushnell. Moultrie, Cuddeback and Covert cams. Cuddeback took amazing pictures. Always centered, but the battery life sucked. The Covert cameras have performed best for me. I have not had many of the problems that some people have. I always make sure my camera doesn't face direct sunlight and I clear the path in front of them. Either way, contact Pat(gutoneforme) and he will help you out if there is something wrong with the camera.
Best solution for blurry pics? Make the deer stop. Use a mineral site (or mock scrape as deer season approaches) and they'll at least stop briefly and pose for a good picture.
Looks to me like the deer is picking his head up as the pic was being taken. Again, this would happen with any camera....
I would say fiddle with the setting some, I had my cams for almost two months before I got it set to what produced the best pics for me. Putting them in open areas your bound to get blank pics if the wind is blowing. I've had half my pics end up being weeds or crops blowing around over the summer. Other than that everything already been said. Your not gonna get the postcard picture with every pic, with any camera. Good luck getting it worked out though and with the deer, looks like you got some good ones.
This picture is blurry because of the light and time of day, and because the deer is moving. It has nothing to do with the camera.
to get the quality pics like you see most people post, you have to get the deer to stop. if baiting is illegal, or using mineral sites is illegal, make a mock scrape....even this time of year, i have 2 of them going, which is where i get all my pics i post. all i do is pee in them every other day. obviously don't put doe in heat urine in it this time of year....lol. the pics you posted are pretty good quality. i usually post between 6-10 pics a week...but i have to sift through 400-1000 pics to get those. some of nothing. some of blurry deer. get them to stop is key!!
Thanks for the input, everyone! I'm not trying to rag on Covert, at all! I think they're great cameras the majority of the time. Just sucks getting a picture of a big buck on the move and not being able to tell what he is!! Hope everyone's scouting is going well!
