I got my first of the year the other day also. After going 0-2, my dog had enough of me missing. The next bird he just caught himself. Was funny. Havent cooked it yet. I'm hopefull to get a few more and wrap them in bacon and smoke it. How do you cook them?
I sautéed it on garlic and onions and made a stir fry over rice and broccoli. And I am in NJ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I can't wait to get back home around Christmas time and get the dog out. We usually hunt with four German Wirehairs and I love watching them work. Population has made a pretty big bounce back in our area so it's usually your own fault if you don't limit out.
During hurricane sandy the pheasant hatchery was destroyed and 10000 pheasants got out not far from where I was hunting. People would limit out with a bow! And they are still around! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Good stuff. I love bird hunting especially pheasant but seldom get to do it anymore. I once had a string of 25 straight before missing. :D
I wish we had those beautiful birds here in NC. Funny story, my girlfriend was out "junking" aka antiquing with her mom about a month ago when she texted me and said that she got me a surprise. Later that night, she asked me if I was ready for it and she went into the closet and pulled out a grouse and said "I got you a pheasant"...amongst my laughter, I laughed and corrected her. As bad as I wanted to say that I didn't want to have someone elses kill on my wall, I gratefully accepted and smiled.
I have always wanted to hunt pheasants. We have Llewellin setters that we use for quail and woodcock here in SC.
