This will be my first season hunting with a bow, so shooting for first kill besides golphers and squirrels. Who else is going for firsts this season and how many years out with a bow? If you've been out years with no luck share misses if you want too.
My goals this year include: killing a buck with a bow (a first) and killing two deer or more in a season with a bow (another first).
There are several 1st's for me this year.... Bought my 1st bow(Parker Eagle Outfitter package),Going bowhunting for the 1st time and here is to hoping that I get my 1st buck ever... Not just bowhunting but in general
Last year was my first hunting with a bow. I harvested a doe last season but am still looking for my first buck this season.
This will be my first year hunting with a bow, excluding that one hunt I did as a teenager... All I have to hunt is public land. I've got one trail cam out in what I think is a good area. Hopefully I'll get some pictures this week. My goal is to put a deer down. Buck or doe doesn't matter to me.
Trying to kill a deer with my new bow. And trying to break my record of shooting 2 bucks and 1 doe in one season.
This will be my third year out with a bow. During my first I was lucky enough to take several does and a decent 8 point on public land in North Carolina and hiked and climbed my butt off in Idaho the first and second year chasing elk with a bow but could never quite get within range. The second year I had moved back to Georgia and I tagged my first gobbler, and being with a bow it made it that much more memorable. This year I took my first hog with a bow "in Florida" and now I'm looking forward to being back in the tree for deer season and hopefully putting a rage thru the cage of an unsuspecting coyote. Best of luck to ya'll.
This will be my second year with a bow. I shot a doe and a button buck last year. I'm hoping to get my first buck this year, but I'll be happy putting some meat in the freezer. I could have shot a handful of different bucks last year, but I want my first buck to be one that is worthy of taking to the taxidermist.
Best of luck to all of you new bow hunters! Remember to keep the faith, and not get discouraged. Bow hunting is so much more demanding than gun hunting, and it's not as easy, but so much more rewarding. I started bow hunting back in 1985, and will admit that I didn't practice enough, and I used finger tabs and no sights. I also still pretty new to deer hunting in general, and made my share of mistakes. From 1985 - 2002, I only harvested 1 buck (a yearling 3 point) (also at the time we never shot does in our area) Then in 2003, I got serious about my bow hunting, I purchased a better bow, switch to a release and carbon arrows, added a good 3-pin sight, and most importantly started practicing each summer to be ready come fall. Also, the area where I hunt began selling discounted doe tags, due to the high deer population. In the last 10 years I've managed to harvest 6 bucks with my bow, and a dozen (at least) does. All of my bucks have been at least 2.5 years old. and the last 5 years I've been holding out for 3.5 or older. My point is ...... DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED, if you don't get a huge buck this year, or even next year, it takes time for everything to "click" in your hunting technique. But when it does, it really makes it fun. And if possible in your area, I strongly suggest harvesting a doe or two to help you get the practice. I try to harvest a doe first every fall, as I feel it helps me calm down and be relaxed for when the bucks come by later in the season. (Plus yearling doe tastes great!) BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! Have fun.
this is my 5th year out with my bow but my first on private land where I personally did all the work, putting in a plot, cameras, mineral stations, cutting trees and mowing grass and hangin stands. Im eager to see my hard work pay off. Im also ready to harvest my first deer with my creed, Its craving venison blood! All the new hunters stick with it, bow hunting is frustrating and not as easy as harvesting a buck from 100yards with a rifle. Play the wind and just stick with it, good things happen to those who wait.
3rd year deer hunting, first two with crossbow, hopng to get a deer with my martin onze 3, buck or doe, cool with either one. Oh, 1st year button buck and doe, last year 5 point and does thanks to antlerless tags.
This will be my 3rd season hunting with a bow. Goals include first buck and doe kills on video. Also, I'm always looking to kill bigger and more mature bucks so I'm going to try and shoot only a 160" or bigger. 140 and 150 class are on my wall already from my first two seasons so I'm seeking improvement.
Going for my first Oklahoma deer and the first with the Z7. Also while in OK I will be looking to take my first hog and turkey with a bow...here is to the next 4 years thank you Air Force.
Only got a doe last year... so going for a buck this year 120 class or better... that's my goal anyways lol
4th year hunting and still looking for my first whitetail. I ve them under me during off seasons but never drew on one I could shoot. Mostly hunting on leased property with not a lot of game but hunting with a quota on public land in two weeks so Im hopeful. Also hunting in Mississipps during the rut in late Dec.
Looking for my first buck bow kill in this my 4th bow season. Will not settle though, I'm not looking to kill anything for the sake of killing it. I am hunting for a mature whitetail buck - score doesn't neccesarly matter to me either, just don't want to take an up and coming buck that might be a game changer a few years from now
I'm hoping to kill my first Illinois buck this is my thord season hunting in Il. Ive killed a couple does up here but no bucks
