Well, all I can say is WOW! What an amazing day! Unfortunately the cooler came home empty but it was still a fantastic experience. I just got home so its coming at ya a little late. Got to spend the day picking Mike's brain about bowhunting and it was great! Got in the stand at 6AM this morning, saw nothing but heard several blowing and grunting until about 8:45AM when off to my right at about 12 yards stepped out a beautiful 3 yr old 6 pt with a strawberry blond looking hair piece. Very unique. Awesome deer! He moved ever so slowly towards my shooting lane but as I was drawing back, turned away and behind a cluster of trees. No shot whatsoever. He turned back into the woods and went on about making a big scrape 30 or so yards in. Got back in the same stand this afternoon about 3:45PM, saw nothing but heard plenty of deer moving in between rain drops. Just after 6:30pm I hear movement behind me at about 5 o'clock. Slowly look over my shoulder to see a large black mass moving my way. This solid mound of a black bear came meandering up my right side, came out about 20 yards to my 2 o'clock onto the path my stand was overlooking. From here, he made his way to where Mike had dropped me off that afternoon and from there followed my exact footsteps, sniffing me out until he reached the very bottom of my treestand. I stomped my foot to scare him off and in the process he scares off two deer that were headed my way. No meat in the freezer yet but still an INCREDIBLE day. Wow, that must have been REALLY cool! Enjoyed the video...if you didn't spook him, he would have probably tried to climb your stand. They are very curious. I also find it amazing how quietly they can walk through the woods. Good luck this season!
Thanks guys. Yeah I really didn't need a hunting buddy that bad so I ran him off. Unfortunately, he spooked off the other two deer that were coming up the path. But it was still fun and the bear was one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen.
