So i decided to purchase my first deer feeder. Ive been throwing that idea around for a season or two and finaly bit the bullet. Bought a Moultrie 30 gallon for a very reasonable price ($75) and had it shipped. I got it yesterday along with my new rangefinder (again a thought that ive been muling around for a while) and it looks nice. So now im at a stand still. Im hunting a corn field where i have a stream flowing next to it and a small thicket in the middle with very little woods surrounding. at a corner of the field, Scott ( The Farmer) left a 20yard x 12 yard area unplowed and not panted. I was debating that spot but it worries me that since corn is so SO abundant where i hunt (Just south of Indian Lake Ohio) that the deer wont pay a bit of attention to it. What should i do? Find another spot or use a differant attractant/ feed?

Heard Lee Lakosky speak this weekend and he says he puts all his trail cams and feeders on the field edges next to crop fields. his reasoning is that you are bringing deer to food not making another food source out of nothin but a feeder. and he can get in and out to check his cameras without ever spooking deer. I think you would do good to put it on the field edge of corn, cause even though it is the same food. corn out of a feeder is easier to eat and you will be able to get every deer in the area. also sweet feed works well with deer and it is different, maybe mix the bags together. just make sure it doesn't get wet cause it will mold.

I have seen Lee's feeders and they are right there next to the fields, even the corn fields. Good luck with whatever you choose.

thanks guys for the "Pro's" advice. Come to think of it, i have seen that on the Crush. Im probably going to mix sweet feed and corn just to shake it up a bit. Im also think that im going to put it where the legs are staddleing the line of thicket and field. the other good point about this area it that there is a creek less than 10 yards away.
