Well guys, I went out and bought a product based on a name only and not any reviews or research and now I'm regretting it. I purchased Tink's Power Scrape. I made three mock scrapes Saturday after noon. Then after I got home I was on a couple sites and read that this stuff can actually do more harm than good. Has anyone had an experience with this stuff? Did I just mess up my hunting area? I know its only August, so if I did spook them by using this synthetic stuff should I go buy some buck urine and just pour it in the same spot to try and correct this? I don't hunt on a big lot of land. Only about 20 acres. I cant afford for this stuff to drive deer away. What should I do? If I get pics from one of them, I will post up.
I've used the Tink's Power Scrape the last 2 years and haven't had any trouble with it running bucks off. I had a trail cam on it most of the season and had bucks and does coming to it all season long. The same bucks showed up numerous times although most buck activity was after dark, it didn't scare them away. I really haven't used it this time of year, but wouldn't worry about it chasing your deer away. I got the buck in this episode of Bowhunt or Die at a scrape using Tink's last season. Check out the video at about the 15 minute mark. http://www.bowhunting.com/videos/season-2--2011/episode-13-the-october-lull_1225
It will work but I would have waited until about Oct 20 to use that. There are better products available to use now.
Good to hear! thanks jmbuckhunter. It said it works for preseason. I was mainly using it to get pictures on my trial cam.
