I shot a doe yesterday at about 4:00pm. I stood up and drew my bow to test my ability when cold. Dropped my phone because I didn't tuck it in my belt. I sat back down frustrated. A few minutes later I noticed movement to my right. A large doe just made it to were I walked in and was allert. I moved for my bow to quickly and she jumped back and looked at me. I couldn't stand so I turned hard to the right drew struggled to find my anchor and peep. Lined up and shot. I felt my bow arm pull left at the shot and hit way to far back. I got lucky the swacker cut both tenderloins in half and severed the arteries below the spine she only went about 90 yards.
Congrats!! Shooter Doe!. Always better to just freeze when they pin you but hey, you got the job done. Now just cut away bad part of backstrap, wrap in bacon, throw on grill, enjoy mouth watering goodness.
congrats on your first. but remember, you won't always be lucky with a bad shot. Nothing wrong with letting a deer walk when you are not ready or don't have a good shot.
I was sick after the shot. And frustrated that I let myself react without thought or control. I have read pretty much every post in this section over the past month and knew I was rushing the shot. I could not pull myself out of just reacting.
Congrats on your first deer with a bow! Is that a Bear Encounter bow? Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
It's a Bear Attitude set to 70lbs at 30". I just bought it about a month ago. I can't figure out how to put my setup as my signature.
The Attitude replaced the Encounter I believe. Really good bow for the price. I had an Encounter for a couple of years and really liked it. Thought it looked similar to my old bow. I hope it brings you many more deer in the future. Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
