First deer out of the way. I have been hunting for the past 6 years and passed on small bucks to let them mature. This year it finally paid off! My first deer ever. Any input would be appreciated. Maybe what you guys think he would score!?

That's a awesome first! Man passing up small bucks when you have never shot one must have been a challenge! We don't really score bucks here unless they are real big so I'm no help there. But good job and keep at it

Yea it was very difficult. Last day of modern gun and I was sittin in a small hunting house and its pouring down rain wind blowing to my face and my wife was texting me o tell me to come out of the woods. Then all of a sudden I look down field about 160 yards and he stepped out. Lets just say that I ha plenty of green runs at shooting smaller bucks this year and I made this one count! Wind blowing 23 mph shooting into the wind. I was surprised I guess hindsight I probably should have let him walk but I believe he was probably at the end of his gains. He isn't a monster by any means but hey a tall 13 pt buck. I'll take it and throw out the mineral for this year!! Guess he is a good baseline.

Thanks, got him in November and just took him to taxidermist last Thursday. Gonna keep his jaw bone to check age. I'm sure at least a 4-5 yr old buck. Gonna get some mineral out probably this weekend. Maybe find some sheds

THAT is an awesome buck! And the conditions you were hunting in were not the best... but hey - you can't shoot them from the couch! Congratulations on an outstanding first buck. :tu:

Thanks copperhead I had a good mentor in the hunting industry. None of my family hunt its my wife's cousin. I'm curious as to see what moves in his place. I believe he was one of the 2-3 mature bucks running in the area
