We have been having a big yote problem this year so i decided to see if i could solve it. Got this one and wounded another and couldn't find it. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.
AWESOME, calling coyotes is a blast. I really enjoy hunting them, good fun. My Savage .204 sure does a number on them! Full moon with snow on the ground and I'll hunt them all night long! They are a tough critter, what kinda shot you using in the gun??
I was using 00 buck out of a extra full choke, Not sure that it is the best combo because it took two shots to take this little yote down and i lost another one, the shot was about forty yards through some really thick stuff.
Not Exactly sure what it is, its a reed call, i pretty much just got lucky on this one. I just sat down and hit the call once and there was seven right up on me.
Awesome! You should make a homemade electronic call, cheap and they work well. I might be wrong but be careful shooting the buckshot through an extra full choke, i always thought a wider choke was to be used
Yea i was kinda unprepared, im probably going to be doing some patterning this week to see what shoots the best for my setup. i just had the full choke in from turkey season.
You should look into the Coyote shot they make for Shotguns! I hear they do a real number if your just trying to kill em'!
Nice! Like others mentioned, try using a more open choke and you'll have a little better results. Called up 7?? Wow, that had to be a rush!
cool... I got to pop one at about 200yds last year while I was out workin our land during summer '08... was doin double duty that day workin the land and doin some practice shooting... uncle took 6-7 last year along with 2 30ish lb bobcats, dad bagged a couple yotes, a friend of our took out 4-5 others along with a 50lb bobcat (biggest bobcat i've ever seen)... of course we promptly toss 'em in the garbage...
