I have hunted with traditional equipment my whole life, and love it. However, I am in college now and opportunities to regularly practice with the recurve are limited so, to minimize the chance of wounding deer, I purchased a compound from a friend and started hunting with that this fall. I really like the bow (Deadzone 32) and shoot it well. In contrast to traditional equipment, the equipment selection with compounds can be a little overwhelming. I was wondering what your opinions are for a good Broadhead? and also a Release? Price is not a major concern. Thanks for your suggestions!
With a the release id go to the bow shop and try out a few see what fits the best and check to see if ur pulling the correct draw length while you were there. On broadheads since your a traditional guy you will probably want to go with a fixed blade and pretty much all of em do the job but if you want a expandable a recommend the killzones or spitfires.
Everyone has a different opinion on this one. Broadheads I really the the g5 strikers. I've shot 3 bucks in the last two years with them and have yet to have a track job. As far as release I shot a finger trigger release but this summer I went to a hot shot tempest thumb release and absolutely love it. I shoot much more consistent and tighter groups.
