Got the first carp of the year boys and girls. My buddy Brandon and I started out strong Sunday morning around 9:00 and didn't land the first fish until about 1:00. The water was just too muddy the first place we went so we moved to another part of the lake and immediately started seeing results. Surprisingly, the water was a little clearer but not by much. I think I only took 4-5 shots and scored on three of them. Not a bad record.

Here's a mad mother goose. All I wanted was a pic.

This was my first carp of the year. This is the only sport where I shoot if I see bushes move. :D Got him in the tail.

Number two. Got this guy on the run from about 15' away.

We had to get out on foot to continue our quest. Here's my 3rd and final of the day. Pretty decent size.

Here's Brandon and his trophy. He ended up getting four that day.

And here is how we roll. Brandon in stealth mode. It's pretty hard paddling with one hand and ready to shoot any second with the other.

This wasn't so bad going with all our gear but coming back up after a long day can be pretty exhausting.

Looks like fun. How hard is it to shoot out of a canoe or kayak?

    Thanks guys!

Shooting out of a kayak or a canoe isn't hard once you get used to standing in one. I actually haven't stood in any other kayaks except for mine and mine is made for it. Usually we take out a tandem canoe and one of us paddles while the other shoots carp. That's the best way.

I wish I had a boat that was rigged for bowfishing but the way we're doing it works for now.

    Congrats on the fish Finch.

I used to shoot from a canoe and sometimes still take it out. Mine has foam sponsons on the sides so it really won't roll but it does get wobbly. By myself it's not too bad ('cept for the standing, paddling and holding a bow). It's a bit like a water rodeo if you try to have two people standing and shooting out of it at the same time. :D

Dang, that picture with all those stairs doesn't look so bad until you see that person waaaaaay down there comin' up them. Prolly burn off a few calories just starin' at the picture. ;)

Congrats on a great day shooting! The picture of that dock is amazing. That is just beautiful. Wish my dock looked like that.

Thanks guys! Yep, we always have a blast. Its quickly becoming one of my favorite hobbies.

Brandon's parents have a condo on the lake. That dock belongs to that group of condos. It is definitely a nicely built dock. A pain in the arse to carry gear on though.
